Was this move really that bad?
Was playing a live tournament last night at the casino. Only my fourth time and it's the early stages with a lot of limping going on. There are two people at the table I have in my mind as sharks and they are talking about play that's happened in the past. Shark to my left clearly has a reputation for bluffing and loose pre-flop range but has been card dead so far. He seems on tilt too.
level 3 blinds are 150/300 I get TT on the button and with one limper before me I make it 1000. The aforementioned villian makes it 3.5K from the big bilnd leaving himself just over 5K back. The limper flat calls.
My options are fold and leave the other two to fight it out, chipping up the good player who will then no doubt comand the table; call and set-mine against what I'm pretty sure is a big ace; or raise all-in to represent AA. I'm pretty sure the limper will fold if I shove because she has a decent sized stack and has been folding a lot.
I decide to shove hoping for a coin-flip against the guys over-cards and for the limper to fold. If it's a coin flip then I either lose and go home early, or win and take out a dangerous player doubling myself up for a decent chance of coasting to the final table.
I do so and, after a long think he calls and the limper folds as expected.
He turns over AQ. I get torrents of abuse from the player and the other regular as well as a few others. The flop comes with a ten to double me up.
Obviously this is poor play from me. But I don't understand the guy's call or why he got so upset. I have far more to gain from this situation because he is the better player. Could he have folded thinking that I had AA or KK?

He doesnt have to call off pre after the 3 bet, thers no way he can feel like he's ahead here. Even readless its he cant put you on a AJ/10 hand. He also must have known he was calling into a flip.
I dont mind a fold, prefer the Jam if your in 15k range. Definately not a spot to flat looking to set mine.
You applied max pressure with the best hand, winning the flip, fine. NH
