Personally, I always give a nice big bet then feel dissapointed when its folded round and end up wishing I had slow played to get more value. Impossible to judge based on your post. You need more info. i.e. chip stacks, whether the other players are agressive or not and the texture of the flop.
You just need to take each set as it comes and play based on the info you have gathered,
Trips over trips is virtually impossible to account for. Just another cold deck i'm afraid.
Yes, trips look good but at the end of the day they are only the third best hand (exc high card) and people do get too attached to them.

IMO u learnt from the 1st hand although u didnt do much wrong. Other 2 hands were really u vs the poker gods and they wanted to get ya!!!!  I personally lead out with half to 3 quarter bets on flop when i get trips to help define the range of hands im up against.

All situations are different, chips stacks, blinds etc etc... I dont think there is anything wrong with slowplaying them a little bit, as if thye are on a flush draw or straight draw, all u need to do it pair the board for the FH... Personally if im in a position where it looks like im stealing i would bet out, and hopefully they wont respect my bet. If i am 1st to act then i wud check and let the others do the betting... Try and figure out what hand they could have looking at their bet size and what they did preflop, from there you can figure out how to get max value..... I wouldnt go straight all in because most of the time u wont get called.

if i had trips i look at the flop , if their 2 suits the same or 8,9 - j,q etc its better to get the chips in. If its a rainbow flop and no connectors then its up to you wether to slow play but i would for the turn then bet on the river. However dont forget 3 of a kind is only on  the 3rd tier of winning hands, up against higher value trips straights and flushes that are always possibilities. In the end sometimes it doesnt matter what you do your gonna get beaten.

It also depends on the pre-flop action and position, If someone else raise pre flop say at least 3 times the blind and the flop is a rainbow then I like to check it to the raiser as so many people cbet you can check raise them.

If its a dangerous looking board then never check always make sure at least half pot, I normally make all my bets 3/4 to make it expensive to chase draws.

Ideally you want people chasing draws, I know it is so frustrating when you bet pot and you get outdrawn on the river but its when they miss there draw is where you profit.
