Reading to improve?

edited June 2011 in Poker Chat
I've been playing here for a while now, and although I'm far from being a great player I manage to stay the right side of break even so must be doing something right. I've never studied the game, just watched a bit of 865.

I'd like to improve my game from here if possible, so might there be a book that could help me take my game forwards? I have a holiday coming up before too long and a bit of poolside reading is definitely on. Or any other suggestions for game improvement?

I have to be honest i have several poker books and i dont think i have taken anything from any, the 1 book i am enjoying at the mo is Gus Hansen- every hand revealed but again i dont think i have learnt anything from it but its interesting and defo worth a read.

Same goes for poker play magazine i read it but dont really take much from it just its a good read :P

I'd say the best way to improve is find your own style and what suits you and review your hands after every session until your confident with your game, also talk to other players for advice is a great way to improve. I can talk on facebook with you if you want just arrange a time via pm but its good to talk about poker

I can thoroughly recommend the 3 "Harrington on Hold'em" books.  The are not cheap but are excellent for bringing your game on

can help in areas tho, all experiance is good experiance!! So try all & see what suits

The 'Every hand revealed' Gus Hansen was good, as interesting was The Stu Ungar storey I read, cant remember title tho!

Have skipped thru a bit of Harrintons & Doyles books, but best i've found is reading the 'Poker clinic' on this forum, and tutorials & clinics on ch865

I think when Lolu Glitter Dan & James been on with a guest presenter its been fascinating!!

Ive read a couple of books the one i found helpful was "the poker bulepint" although this is only for 6 MAX cash and i was trying to adapt at the time. Made a huge differance.

However ive never really applied that information because i went back to MTTs.

The best advice i can say ive had was talking to fellow players. People such as Scotty and DoHHHHH offer great advice. Even young gun pops up with helpful comments now and again.

I haven't really read any poker books, i find poker videos much better, so grab a beer n watch a few, always makes me eager to play and concentrate more.

I got 'The mental game of poker' by Jared Tendler which works more on the tilt/confidence side of the game, im not half way through yet but i find it a really good book.
