In torno play wager query

So my last posts were deleted for being personal and naming names, so i will make this a discussion thread and ask your thoughts.

I took down a torno last night won 1.2k on here.

Half way through the torno i got into a bit of table banter with one of the regs. (He is a regular Sky poker player and is in the top 10 of the STT leader board with a healthy graph).

Obviously doubting my ability as i owned him - he QUOTE says 'if you win this i will double your prizemoney"

So i said ok!

I went on and won- what do people think is this guy oblieged to pay up???

I cannot PM him on here for some reason but i will track him down!

    he's no more obliged to pay than if you bet your mate something in the pub then he doesnt pay

    you just know not to make bets with him again

    Interesting thoughts you should only make wages if you are going to back it up i know i wont be betting with you lot!

    These sorts of wagers are not endorsed by Sky Poker and with no escrow method to settle, we'd never encourage you to offer or take them.

    Basically it's a personal conversation between the two of you and not something Sky Poker can or should reconcile.

    Looks like a bit of mind games to me. What were you going to give this player if you didn't win the tourney? I bet you it was nothing ( and i will give you nothing if i lose lol) so you were hardly having a 'wager' were you? If you agreed at the time to give say half your winnings if you didn't win, then that would be different, but you still ain't gonna see a penny of it i suspect, and nor should you, just be happy with your £1200

    Cheers OLD man, if your going to be pedantic try using a Capital letter when you start a sentance and a full stop at the end.

    This is a poker forum and your defo no QC'er for my grammer do one old man!

    The reason Aussie didn't use a capital is because he was still talking from his original post ;o)

    The reason he didn't use a full stop, is because he hasn't stopped yet... you can trust me on that one ;o)

    What exactly was said in the chatbox?

    You didn't really give many details, was it just a tongue in cheek comment? a way of him saying you play bad without actually saying that?

    Spent your winnings already then?

    I dont get how he can say that yet you have nothing to lose? so its not really a proper bet is it probably just a throw away comment

    I have a print screen on it.

    Went along the lines of me owning him for about half hour when he joined my table.

    He couldnt take it - so he basically thought i was no good and a luck box- i said i will take him out and win.

    He said along the lines i got no chance i will win- yes i will- then he said "If you win the tourny I'll double your winnings"

    I said ok of cause u would- he said he would.

    I even got a msg of FZA who was on the table after the torno:

    Well played in the 4k open sir. I was devastated when that guy king rivered me twice! As you won I wonder if **** will be a man of his word and double your winnings ;)

    Then he gets knocked out after that not heard from since - is he a man of his word then thats the question!

    This my friend is about getting slated by someone who thinks he is a pro STT player and that enables him to slate me about my play and thinks i have NO chance of winning.... and when i do what does he say then?

    OK, if you only want people to express opinions about the topic at hand fair enough.  The comment was obviously a tongue in cheek way of commenting on your Poker Skills.  In this case the individual was wrong as you went on to win the tournament.

    However to expect to be paid for a throw away comment like that is harsh in the extreme IMO

    If x?x/?x?x?x? does honour the comment, not bet, as there didnt seem to be a similar offering from yourself then i personally would be amazed.........

    If you wanna show everyone you've done well just paste the result from the tourny lobby, say "ul to xxxx who played really well heads up" (even if they didn't), everyone will say well done and we can all move on! :D

    If im honest i cant believe the cheek of even posting this!

    Firstly you have just binked £1200 anyways then you expect the person to pay up? its not like anyone you know said it and/ or you may have taken literally when probably just a bit of banter or him berating you

    Actually Rich, i didn't see it,  all images have to be approved by Sky, and it hadn't been approved when I deleted the original thread.

    Anyway the purpose of this subsequent thread was for you to gain opinions on wether the individual should pay you.  i think it's fairly clear than not many people feel that you should be paid.  As you have your answer from the forum I am going to close this thread now as it would serve no further purpose to keep it open.

    If you wish to pursue this matter further then you will have to do it with the individual in question.

    Hardly a brag post is it!

    Its about if from bets at the table should people keep there word??

    Most of us are gamblers and always making these type of bets!

    Like agreements when u go play live and both doing well and u decide to split say 80/20 on each - its about backing up your word is it not!

    Why did that guy make that comment??? because he thought i had no chance so he was safe- wrong boyo!
