As you can see from my SnG graph I've experienced some pretty sharp swings recently. And they've been quite tough on the old mental state. Especially when you come out of one downsing and think the only way is up again only for variance to bite you in the backside once more.

My last 1k so or games are all from this month I think, and that's with a week's holiday at the beginning! As you can see all I've done is grind to get out of these swings as I'm confident I can beat the game and that's the key here for anyone experiencing the same just now or in the future. Rather than take a break I'd advise you to grind MORE! So long as you're emotions aren't affecting your plays, it must be said. If you're confident you can beat the game and you are getting bad beat after bad beat then you shouldn't stop as variance will turn around.

Downsings don't have an expiry date unfortunately, but if you play more and continue to make +E.V. decisions the chances are you will be back into profit again sooner. You're mental state must be correct though and that can't be emphasised enough. If you feel like you're chasing losses or making bad plays because you're "due" then take a break for however long you need. Instead of having a monetary goal, instead aim to play x amount of games or hands in a session and remember to continue to use correct BR management (i.e. drop down stakes if your roll has been greatly affected).

Sorry if this is just rambling but I thought I'd try and make something useful out of my most 'swingy' month in poker! And remember the more you grind the more C4P's you rack up ;)

Is the graph above for HU sngs only?

I haven't suffered from any kind of prolongued tilt for over a year now. I have the usual, get a bad beat in a tournament for half my stack, and spew the rest off, or lose a buy in at cash, then do something stupid and lose another.....

    But it always stops there.....

I can't play through it, but I have no desire to do so, I just close tables and do sumthing else for abit.....

But HU sng turbos are deffo THE most tilting game I've ever played.......Because......

    - High variance naturally means loads of bad beats....

    - Players rematching while they're winning, lose 1, and snap decline.

    - The time waiting between games when on a losing run just winds me up even more.

    - The superstiiton I have, even though I play on mini, I have to filter chat to "player only", change to sit on the right, skope my opponent and note/update his stats! Takes ages.

    - It's so easy to click "play again" when you're playing sum1 who's playing better than you, and you clearly should take a break but he's under your skin!!! Aghhhhhhhh

I have a good record at them, and enjoy them, but a losing run and I'm foooked! - I wish I could grind them like u, Gooner, Gaza etc.......

    I'd just go mental!!!!

Gr8 turnaround, get back up the levels away from me! :)

No I played quite a few DYM's to try reduce the variance a bit and its worked. Can actually play them alongside HU ones, which is good.

When I copy and paste my HU only graph it shows my previous graph for some reason. But my HU one is perhaps swingier and uglier lol
