when your away... an idea?

Hey, was just in a tournement were i was heads up, and unfortunatly for me my internet disconnected, and by the time id reconnected the guy i was heads up with took all my chips whilst i was away (which i dont blame him for doing one bit) but i was thinking, would it be possible for sky to come up with something so that if you happen to lose connection ( whilst heads up ) they could maybe pause the game for 5 mins or so? just so the unfortunate player could maybe have time to reconnect? Havent a clue if this would even be possible to do but i think it would be a good thing to have. I know it would be pointless to do this if theres more then 2 players left in a tourney but im sure this has happened to quite a few people.

    Hi Rob..............on 1st reading your comment I thought, 'yeah gr8 idea' but then on reflection I think it could open a can of worms.
     What if you are heads -up and you are getting dominated by your opponent ie; you just can't get a grip of where you are against him (it does happen)............what's to stop you deliberately disconnecting your internet yourself just so you can break the momentum he has over you.....or you go for a t-break etc;.
    I can see your concerns but personally I can also see it being abused.............regards.......Billy.

    normally most players in this spot will give oppo a certain time, normally 5mins to get reconnected, it sounds like you were unfortunate enough to get a player that is not that considerate, how long was you away for ??

    i was away for about 3-4 mins but it was too late by then the tourney had finished lol i dont blame the guy for stealing my blinds, at the end of the day people play to make money, and it wasnt hes fault my connection went. And billyboots i know were your coming from, but i dont think you would gain that big of an advantage if you did do that, but i do get your point.

    i think this is a great idea, if its someone you know they would usually wait but otherwise they knick blinds

    should be a forced break of 5 mins and give them a chance to reconnect

    maybe if they allow 1 hu protection for if you time out could be a good idea? i dont know if any other sites do this but it is frustrating my last time was on FT of rebuy open 2/3 and lost 10 mins which i fell back to 3rd i was not happy all due to my fuse tripping or what not . I think its more important hu that this is allowed as they can just steal away

    agree it should definitely be introduced a disconnection bank as well as time banks most sites have these and it doesnt cause a problem shouldnt matter whether you are being dominated HU or you are dominating why should you play for 4 and on others 9/10 hours to then be scr ewed HU due to your internect cutting out

    not sure if im posting this in the right place for a while now when ive been playing at a table i suddenly end up back on my home page msn.have to hit sky poker to get back to the game.also when typing in the chat box alot of the letters dont type and i have to go back and start again.if im on a table i also find my time has run out even when i have checked, made a bet, ect ect. any advice please thanks paige

    Hello hunter & paige................I've only just seen this post and quite mortified to think you both feel this way.
    I for one have no such feelings or dislike towards paige and am not aware of any ill feelings from other forum members towards paige but i can only speak for myself.
    I try and trawl through a high percentage of the posts sent when i can but i'm just an ordinary joe who plays when he can and trawls thru the posts in between.
    I don't personally reply to a gr8 deal esp. the techie type of posts bcoz i'm not your man for that type of thing.
    Also, I have to admit I very rarely ever visit the 'shed', i'm not sure why, it's probably bcoz it's such wide and varied type of posts that is unrelated to poker and for that reason only I tend to shy away.
    pls tell your wife that she's not alone when it comes to not getting replies back and not to take it personally, you can always send me a pm if you wish but don't deprive yourselves from the community...the more you post the quicker ppl will get to know you.....chin up and start posting again...my regards Billy.

    The reason I ask this is bcoz i also tend to get this happening to me and thats bcoz it's peak time for social internet users ie; I am with virgin broadband and they curtail the upload speed for home users which cause time-outs when we try to action a request eg; logging-in, making a bet, typing etc; ...to the point that it slows up so much it causes it to crash all the time.
     They call this curtailment TMS (traffic management system) and their excuse for it (so I've been told) is to stop their servers from overloading and crashing bcoz of the high demand. They do this to by limiting the usage to it's customers at peak times..............hope this helps....Billy

    also as billyboots says i forget about the shed imo main ones i look at is GPC then flick through others post more in her imo much love xx
