Help with serial limpers with big hands

edited June 2011 in The Poker Clinic
Hi

I have real problem in dealing with serial limpers. Im not talking about those players (at low levels) who mostly limp, and then make a big raise, when they have a big hand (i find these players very easily to read and play against.). But those players who limp ALWAYS even with very strong hands.

I disagree totally with the strategy, especially if you let too many drawing hands into the pot, but when they have a big hand it can be absolute nightmare to play against (I suppose in that sense it makes them difficult to play against - though i would not say they are good players).

It is a real weakness in my game, as i find it really difficult to know if a decent c bet (in the right cirucumstances) will take them off the pot.

Here is an example below, it was in the late stages of a double your money tourny: He had NEVER raised preflop, but had call a lot of peoples bigish raises (with ace rag and medium strength hands). When he called I didnt not put him on qq (best i thought an ace with a decent kicker or a lowish pocket)

Do you guys know the type of player i am talking about, and how do you best deal with them

If this is a DYM I just limp pre and set mine.

Raising from SB here is just horrible as he probably won't fold and you'll have to cbet with 3 overs most the time.

Also flop cbet is terrible, if you're gonna make it (which you shouldn't as you shouldn't raise pre anyways) it should be about 500.

Pre limp dont raise it up as you only really want to set mine

post flop ez fold if you limp check/fold

if you have a genuine hand in this spot JJ/QQ + depending on the limper then its fine to re-raise it as you have

Why wold he make it 500 when the guy only has 900 back? Petty pointless imo he was pot committed anyway, any c-bet on that flop is pot committing he put the guy all in with his bet which was fine off the flop with his stack. However raising does sem pointless here, limp, if you mess chuck it away :)

Posted before 7am hence technically dead, yep with stack sizes shove is best as villian will miss 66% of time but still hand is played badly for me.

dont play dyms but is limping to setmine really ok with a player left to act and only a max of 15BB deep

If villain limpcalls lots why cant we raise pre and shove most flops (maybe too risky in dym idk)
