cant believe some people im sat at a table with 2 sitters for the whole game get down to me and one other player with the other sitter to the right of me gets all the way down to just about 100 chips left and other player in just keeps raising ever hand to steal i get a q high flush all they had to do was check it but no they put me all in when i have my flush and they hit k high flush on the river  with k3 off beating my Q high flush i hit on turn. seriously it does my head in. its just down right bad sportsmanship.

Why register for a torny if your not gonna play it disrupts the flow of the game and couldnt do anything.
    anyone else have this happen?

    no it wasnt a freeroll

blinds were only 100 and thats all he had left

Thought you said you were with sitters for the whole game?

God knows why anyone would do it in an MTT they're paying for, I've only seen people do it for any length of time in freerolls.

Fair play if you're just after a good "proper" game though, I can see how it'd be annoying if you're in it for a proper poker match. Got to be a good thing money-wise though!

i cant understand it either if your paying for a game why wouldnt you play. Sometimes its cos they havnt got connection but not whole game. Dont mind the odd sitter if i can nick there blinds but what annoyed me the most was just the other guy only had to check for us both to cash he had huge stack and i tried to play him for most of the game but lost a few big hands. he still woulda won it if he checked the river only had 4 bb left

you dont have to do what i suggested but just think its a bit off really and i wouldnt do it myself

i did think of it but had hit my q high flush and just had feeling that sitter would go all in double up and i would be all in next hand with rubbish so had to really was the first hand i actualy hit any thing above a pair and other guy just kept raising me all in every hand before when i hit pairs and such and didnt want to not cash. My fault in a way should of made a stand regardless of the sitter but it just put my game off. think the next time im just gonna have to bite the bullit and call him on it regardless of if i cash or not. Problem was he had  double my stack i tried to play hands and hed shove every time i made a move. i said to him why didnt you just check it and answer i got back was 'loser' so what can you do. somepeople are just that way. Anyway lesson learned -  dont expect anything when it comes to gamesmanship. I did it the other day held pkt 8s against sitter who was all in and other guy only had about 3 big blinds i hit a set and folded them so he would cash and still got the win.

If you cant beat people who are away give up imo , seriously it does create a metagame sometimes with other players nicking there blinds just use position and bet most flops they should fold.

never heard of a sitter before lol

Post the hand with stack sizes.

There is abit of strategy involved in beating an away player in a dym bubble situation believe it or not ! ;) lol

I wouldn't be telling people this if I were you.

Personally I don't worry too much about who else cashes as long as I do.

yea i know i should of played it different just got undermy skin and put myself in a bad situation. Normaly wouldnt do that but you know sportsmanship and all that would rather give a player a chance rather than someone not playing.
  • edited July 2011
wasnt double or nothing was only me other guy and 1 sitter left in normal sit n go

well nothing untoward there was flush on the board and other guy was all in so kinda new i was beat and is why i folded mainly. But woulda hated to have taken live player against a non player. also i asked why he didnt check it after the hand was over and i was knocked out.

lol how many threads do we get like this sorry dazler its part of the game would you rather they be there and play back? lmao thread
  • edited July 2011
suppose its like if someone timed out on you or got disconnected you either steal his blinds or give the other player a chance to reconnect.

actualy it was wierd that 1 player was sat out whole game and the other sat out until there were 3 off us left then decided to shove pre i think. while other live player with big stack folded . Could this have been colusion by 3 players? im not sure if ive had this or not so not able to spot them.

The whole idea of the game of poker is to make life hard for people.

If it was a normal sit and go, 1st place is worth alot more than 2nd. The big stacks job is to get all the chips. It's ridiculous to suggest he plays soft on the other guy until HU. Then starts the HU with more even chip stacks than he would should he have exploited the bubble situation properly.

In a dym it's totally different.

    WP big stack imo!.....

Wud still like to see the hand though, seems you are reluctant to post it?

no not reluctant to post it i cant for some reason goes all weird when i cut and paste it and would have to sift through to find it. i did try and play him and ignore the sitter but couldnt call every all in with just a pair. I suppose you have a point and object of the game is to win and if he did check and let me win against the sitter i could have always made a crazy come back so you want the other player out for the win. was just anoying is all.

I wanna see the hand history coz there's definitely strategy involved in playing an away player in a bubble situation three handed, even more so in a normal sng. Theres some things you can do to use the 'sitter' to gain an advantage, and also knowing what to do to stop the other guy using the sitter to his advantage.

For example, if the bigstack is on the button, and the big blind is the sitter, his opening range becomes pretty much any 2 cards. So you can adjust/widen your re-shoving range to take advantage of this....

Thats just one, theres a few more....

yea my mistake was not making a stand and calling his shoves after i raised hands or maybe i shoulda shoved on him first to try and get the double up and be in controll. I tried to play the hands i had and shoulda looked at what his range was and not folded to every bluff.

im posting this as want to know what people do in this senario, i was peed off at the time of righting this but at the same time wanted to see if people had a sense of fair play or not and what to do about players that sit out and how that effects your game when up against 1 other player and choices to either cash and wait for sitter to be blinded out and then play for the double up or some other stratagy. looking at it now i cant complain about losing but i do find it sometimes affects my game as it dosnt feel like a proper game. Dohhh is right and i take his comments positivly and has made me think about what to do in this situation. It dosnt happen often but will think about my play next time it does.

Very true i play alot of DYMs and see alot of these so called sitters. I never call if i out of position or if i have dead cards, all you need to do is get your chips above this away player then fold let somone else do the calling unless you hit a big hand
Trust me if you call the away player out of position you will lose, also if you feel lucky only call the sitter if you have an Ace in you hand. gl m8t
