The guy would be a great asset and calls a spade a spade.Love reading each of his posts, always thoughtful and precise. No fairer man on the forum and would not be biased in any way. (Not saying there is anything wrong with the other mods btw) Posted by dylan12
Diplomacy is a more valuable asset for moderating (the clue is in the title) than calling a spade a spade. How many Mods are there already? they seem to have one for everyday of the week and 'spares' atm, soon there will be more mods on here than posters, they'll even have their own themetune next, ''we are the mods, we are the mods, we are, we are, we are the mods'' however all things considered i would have nothing against him taking this position if it was offered, the 2am to 6am shift obviously.
Could do alot worse than tommyd to be a mod but I reckon
a) Why would he want to do it? What's in it for him?
b) It's a job that most people can do, and I feel he'd be wasted doing the roll of a mod.
Id suggest he'd be more suited to a role such as a "forum rep" - 1 of 3/4 forumers who act as a go between for the forumers and the mods/suits.
He'd have maybe a weekly meeting and/or regular contact with someone directly at the head office, to push matters that are often raised on the forum then ignored. Poker points/sng sats/eyemans post about table balancing etc etc etc.
If people like Tommy/Irish man are regularly in direct contact with the suits/mods, they can report back and tell it to us how it really is, instead of just saying "we've forwarded the thread to head office" - then thats the end of it.
Tommy would be perfect for this, but ofc would do a solid job as a mod too.

I don't want diplomacy personally, I want someone who can call a spade a spade and makes a decision and is not afraid to back it up if needed. Tommy is a guy I totally respect as a poster and as a person and has the ability to tell people that they have done wrong without causing offence. If I have posted something offensive, why PM me, just tell me on the thread and I will edit etc, He is a guy that I would listen to (and there aint many of those around tbf) and I know that if he gets involved then i have over stepped the mark and he will not be afraid to tell me. Why tip toe around things, we are all adults and should all behave as such.
I know some of the mods and think they are in the similar mould tbf and are willing to explain reasons more than others.
This is obviously not a 100% serious thread because Sky aren't going to pick a mod because people start a thread but in all honesty he would be a great one imo and I read his posts more than anyone elses - common sense FTW and he has plenty of that!!
I was going to start a thread "DOHHHHHHH 4 MOD" but had to be realistic

Isn't forum rep Grandad and Blandy? But agree JJ, TommydonkD should have some role (if he wanted). There arent many I would bother to listen to but there are a handful out there and Tommy is at the top.
Yeh but Dave and TK both work for sky. Tommy would work for us. He would speak directly to the decision makers and come back and tell us exactly what they said. Summat like.... "Although every single player on the site wants sng sats, it's tuff ti ts coz we're not doing em" Posted by DOHHHHHHH
Good point, you must be drunk cos your ideas are crackers - changed the thread title
Thanks for the kind words Dyl. Was going to let this run for a bit before I commented for a little ego massage but as it's veered straight into teacher jokes it seems like that was just a pipe dream. Sigh.
Dylan: Thank you for the nomination but what would me becoming a Mod really change? I would still post in the same manner and just because I have the title Mod_TD doesn't mean I will be instantly more respected or that my posts will have any greater authority. I have always thought that you earn respect by your actions (and here by the tone of your posts/chat) You gain authority in your words by talking sense and creating well balanced rational arguments. I hope I have gained the some level of respect from the other members of the forum from my posts to date. I would like to believe that the majority of my arguments are well thought out and fair. If anything making me a Mod would just give the less imaginative people in the forum an easy 'you would say that as a Mod' stick to beat me with. So I will say thank you very much for the compliments and the sentiment but I would respectfully decline if asked.
Dohhhh: Your idea of a forum rep would be a massive organisational change. You're talking about putting a forum member directly into weekly SkyPoker meetings. I couldn't begin to imagine the amount of time and effort it would take to do this role. It's a fabulous idea JJ but on the scale you and many others would want it to be and to have the influence/gain the amount information you want it's practically unworkable and would take so much hard work and dedication from someone. I know I couldn't commit to do justice to the role.
In closing, for any important role in the community like this, I would always say ask Jakally long before me.
TEACHER JOKE
And why would I want to deal with more squabbling children in my own time
When I say a meeting, I mean like on skype/msn or something, lol. Not literally driving up to sit in a meeting...........
Any way of communicating with important people and then relaying the info in your own "spade is a spade" way
Half hour a week, 10 mins relaying what you've been told (on a pacific thread) in a no nonsense manner, then maybe 5 mins reading the thread before every session to answer questions/note ideas from forumers.

Get where your coming from mate, would just be great to have a voice of reason in a role - probably not as mod as you say - but in some role at least.
As for the jakally comment, 100% agree, when he aint slowrolling me he is a legend lol but you post more
I see Jakally in more of a mafia Don role, no need to speak just use his expressions as a form of dissaproval.
Keep up the great work never the less, I don't really use the forum these days but when I do I like to catch up with your words of wisdom - anyway enough of stroking your ego, I look forward to staking you in Cardiff
In Response to Re: TOMMYD 4 MOD : If I quote posts that you post on your personal account, does that mean I can abuse you as you don't have your "mod" hat on? Posted by dylan12
In Response to Re: TOMMYD 4 MOD : I won't abuse you I promise geek machka - but how do I change the headline on each post to be the same as the edited title of the thread? Posted by dylan12
You can't, I can't, even on my Mod account. Another forum software fail.

I know you meant Skype or something. An actual poker pro would be a good choice as I would guess most of these meetings take place during normal working hours.
Also you need to factor in all of the PMs a forum rep would get from members of the forum, how long it would take to reply to them, relay all of the information and then re-explain all of the information for the subsequent PMs etc. I think it'll be a lot harder than you say. If there was something workable designed which, most importantly, Skypoker wanted to happen (otherwise there really is no point just having a token person there), I think it would be great. And I'm still saying Jakally or Dollie would be a better candidate than me.
In Response to Re: TOMMYD 4 MOD : Ah ok, thanks mate. you in Cardiff btw? I need you to show me how to copy and paste a thread and shorten it for people to click on rather than pasting a long link. Plus my IPhone 4 is rubbish on battery so need to be shown how to get more life from it Posted by dylan12
Yeah, I'll be there.
I can show you the link stuff. Lisa-Marie or James Hartigan will both be there, they can show you the iPhone stuff. Or ask Tikay for comedy effect.
