Right to call shove?

edited July 2011 in The Poker Clinic
From tonight's £100 gtd Deep Stack.

Villain had got a bit peeved with me raising into him all the time and reckoned he was just pushing back. Highly questionable for him to push with a gutshot straight draw, but was I right to call with my two overcards and a flush draw?

I remember this! I did think at the time I would have done the same, still do.

Thanks Glen. I've had a look at a couple of odds calculators and if I'm reading them right I was still ahead after his 10 paired (hmm...that can't be right, can it?). I was certainly fav after the flop. Still, wouldn't be much of a game if the best hand pre-flop won every time.

No, I reckon you're 2-1 behind with paired 10's? From 2 -1 in front before.

Thought I must be reading it wrong! It was a very complicated calculator!

Flippin' AK! I must lose 9/10. On my recent results I reckon I could make a value case for folding it pre!

tbh prop with ure stack size of nearly 14k and blinds at only 200/400 i dont think you need to do a 4xbb raise at the start of the hand , but as played i reckon i would call / have to call after commiting 4450 in the pot already xx

you have 71% equity on flop, 39% on turn

flop is a snapcall getting nearly 3/1

Raise sizing pre FTW, 900 for me. This is because you SHOULD be raising more at this stage so want your bluff raises to get through aswell, 4x every time is crazy at this stage as raise folding 1600 is narsty.

Flop is SNAPPITY SNAP CALL, you have over 10 bigs behind still for God's sake lol.

Lol Dude - to see what happened to my 10 bigs have a look at my contribution to Glenelg's "WTF" thread!

I have to say that I'm still learning and tend to go on instinct as far as value goes - can anyone recommend some reading/tips about basic value and equity calcs in-play - there never seems to be time!
