That mention of the cliched responses to someone dropping a glass in a pub reminds me of an epic fail of my own, and now I've donked out of the Deep-Stack I've got some time on my hands.

In a previous life I ran pubs. Early on, as a brand new barman, an elderly gentleman walked into the bar. He was immaculately dressed in tweed Plus-fours, jacket and a bow tie. I remarked how natty he looked and he was equally complementary about the pub and the range of real ales on offer.

Choosing the one in front of him, he watched as I expertly (well at least semi-competently) pulled his pint.

As I lifted it over the bar and reached for his money, I said, "you'll enjoy this" and promptly caught the bottom of the glass on the top of the hand-pump, pouring the pint all over him.

Mortified I ran round to him with a handfull of bar towels and helped him attempt to dry himself. Sadly the absorbent nature of tweed meant his natty Plus 4s were completely soaked. I gave him his money back and apologised profusely.

Being a gentleman he ackowledged it as an accident. I went back behind the bar and offered him another pint, free of charge.

Bravely he chose the same beer again. Sadly with exactly the same result!

Thinking he must be on Candid Camera or Beadles About the poor and now completely sodden gent was looking around for the cameras.

Happily, I managed to keep my job (just) and he managed to leave the pub before I drowned him.

For epic fails my mate once did an all nighter doing coursework. He had a gig that night and went to sleep at 11oclock. Slept through his 5 alarms and didn't wake up till 8oclock, by which time he'd missed the train to go to his gig! Although it was an MCR gig so prob a good job he missed it!!

Question for trev,How can there be a problem about the fee for Bentner? surely if we agree to pay for his air fare he can go to hamburg!Dave.

Hi Dan,

Spornybol won the most epic fail- for his tale of the thief who'd mugged him only to discover that what he'd stolen was one of Spornybol's stool samples he was carrying to hospital.
