Bad poker etiquette

edited July 2011 in Poker Chat
I was on the final table of a small MTT tournament earlier 5 players left and we have all cashed. Limped round to me on SB i have 66 so i shove. Its folded round untill there are 2 left to act at which point  a certain player declares what cards he has in the chat box and then folds with a player still left to act behind. As it happens the final guy folds and i pick up a few chips lucky me. I pull the guy up in the chat box saying politetly saying that he shouldnt declare his cards with people still left to act and he goes off on one about how there is no rule and he can do what he wants ect.

Is there a rule about this? should there be?

    It's definatly frowned upon.

Not entirely sure on Sky's policy tbh.  I'd give customer care a quick email if I were you.

A lot of poker sites stop chat when there is an all in situation like the one described so there is no way hands can be disclosed. Not sure what skys take on this is.

If it happened live, the guy would probably get punched in the face*

dont really think it mattered in this situation as you shoved and it would not affect play if the last guy calls, you would still be in a race, but if you had just put in a bet and he done this it would be a different story, also in live poker you would always get a warning if you show a mucked hand with players still to act, online it would be a bit harder to govern, and if the guy bothered you so much just report him, abuse on tables is frowned upon and sky will sort it

Im aware that in this case it didn't really make much difference its just not something you like to see at the table and just wasn't really expecting a rant in reply when i pointed out its not the done thing. Tbh just wondered if there was a clear line on this osrt of thing on sky. Still i enjoy playing here and most of the players i have met along the way are great :)

    Not a guarantee indeed.

I would break my chair over his face and shove each leg in as many holes as possible, and then watch me hit quad sixes on flop.

I hate the way the morons always defend their actions, instead of just apologising.

Talking about a hand in progress is not allowed.  It's covered briefly on the help pages HERE

"We also ask that you don't chat about the current hand in any way which might give an advantage to other players. This could put some people at a disadvantage, and that simply isn't fair."

It's been mentioned elsewhere in the forums by Sky_Dave or Sky_Rich in the past too.

Unless someone reports it, they can't do anything about it.

This recently happened to me playing cash, causing my opponents to all fold.  I mentioned that it's not allowed and they didn't do it again, so left it at that.
