Try playing the way you play on facebook when you play even for micro stakes with real money and see what happens.

Decisions need to be an awful lot better once cold hard cash is involved if you want to win consistantly.

I played for a couple of weeks on another site for "play" money before I joined Sky.  I thought I'd learn something about poker. I knew the basics but didn't want to risk hard cash as I was a newby.  It was a complete waste of time!  Because it was "play" money and you could top up when you ran out idiots would go all-in with anything.  (Actually, thinking about it some folk do that on here!lol  But not to the same extent?

If you want to learn the game "properly" I'd thoroughly recommend this site!
I've been here 3/4 months and my poker has improved a lot.  I started playing 30p Double Your Moneys (Basically 6 handed table and the last 3 in win 50p each)  It doesn't cost a lot and you can limit how much you put in your account.  I'd say I'm probably breaking even cash-wise buit I'm purely a recreational player.

There is also The Forum (which you are at the moment)

This has been the single biggest factor in my improvement.  You can post hands on "The Clinic" and the regular experts will cast an eye over them and give their views.

If you want to PM me with any questions feel free and I'll try and answer as a "fellow newby"

Zynga Poker is probably the best place to start for anyone wanting to get into Online Poker in my opinion, but they can't really be compared. It becomes less of a game when you play for cash, and more of a job in which you can't afford to make bad decisions, but it can be 10x as fun if you cash :P

I 'came over' from Facebook about 18 months ago. Thought I'd get eaten alive when I started playing for real money, but it never happened. I only needed to deposit once, started on micro-stakes DYMs before gradually switching to mainly MTTs. Facebook poker is mainly just a wild gamble, much closer to bingo than real money poker, on Sky you get a much more enjoyable game and more sensible opponents. I got sick of all the stupid gimmicks on Zynga, ie pointless levels/awards/gifts/noises/graphics. I just wanted a good game of poker, and that's exactly what you get when you're playing for real money.
