Time-out during heads-up

edited July 2011 in Poker Chat
I just played heads-up for the mini-open when my internet connection dropped out. I was away for about 2-3 minutes, but during that time my opponent had blinded me down from 450k (3:1 lead me) to less than 200k (2:1 lead him). Are there any unwritten fair play rules for situations like this (he could have easily folded his small blinds until I was back), or is grabbing as much as you can as quickly as you can acceptable?

Player's choice.  I generally use a 10 minute rule for sitting out.  Sadly I haven't always received a thank you and this puts me on life tilt.

genarally most players do give players time, but look at the name that`ll give an idea ? he certainly is

depends on blinds if it allows i wait 5 minutes

unfortunately money is at stake so not everyone will do the same, i timed out a rebuy open 2/3 and lost over half my stack came back i was 3/3 which was very tilting. came 2nd so not all bad but still could have missed chance for 1st.

HU there should be some sort of disconnection saver allow 1 per player and give 5 minutes  for them to come back

I was playing a sat for the Primo the other day and we were down to 3 with 2 places on offer when the chip leader got disconnected. I decided to use my full time before clicking but had no control over the second player. The blinds were so big chip leader got blinded out and missed his spot in Primo Semi. Sky should really think about introducing a time bank for disconnections. It wouldn't be a cure all but it gives a player a bit of time to try and reconnect. Maybe 90 secs?
Much as I love this site Sky Poker does seem to lacking in certain areas

I'm glad most seem to agree that fair-play should trump greed. Won't bring back the £100 I lost, but restores a little bit of faith in humanity.

I don't even try and steal the blinds when the player's there I'm so nice.

    No, not really, I lie. I'm a ****.

If your heads up you should really try to allow them to get back. Earlier on there are other people involved and your descision can make little or no difference.

I are insta ninja raising in this spot

and folding their cards for them....

its poker, ur consistent aim is to virtually take money from players of lesser ability 100% of the time.... why would u wait?????? better off playing tiddly winks.

say u do fold for them... then they come and back and u dc....? do u actually thinkg more then 50% of players will wait for u as u did them?

Got an example that made me feel like a mug though.  Playing a HU Comp elsewhere, I get disco'ed while waiting for the next round, eventually get back on and the other player is hammering buttons for blinds.  I get back into it and then he gets disco'd for a good three minutes and I decide to 'do the right thing' and sit out.  He comes back, doesn't mention a thing, no thank you, no sorry, no nothing.  When I lost I felt like a right doofus.

    Lesson learnt?

I like to think I'm a good guy but poker's a cut-throat business. Played two £50 HU STTs last night and neither opponent appeared. Not that I waited for them to.

Against a random I'm steal, steal, steal. I'd wait for yourself or some other forum reg I liked but I can assure you it's them and them only. And Dohhhhhh would be an exception. I'd also post every hand on the forum if it was him, lol.

i have nose idea who bandinio is however I can caterorically say'll if he tries to disco ball me i'll steal his chips HU as well!!! Its poker, mayn. We raise from late position to steal the blinds!!!!!! Exact same principle as here...

Next ppl will be saying its rude to waise.

I always expect the other player to steal my chips when my connection goes so I have no issue with doing the same but I will let the clock run and slow it down. After all it only takes a couple of hands to get back in the game. Its just part of internet poker. You could ,at the start, negotiate with your opponent to agree what to do should it happen !

Disco'd is a hipper way of saying disconnected.  I'm going to repeat it until it sticks.  Oh and lesson not learnt, I'd do the same again.  Just the way I roll.
