During the UKOPS i have satellited in to a good few comps got when i get there i seem to b doing something wrong, but surely if i have qualified i must be doing something right, i have been playing pretty tight and playing in position. i lost out last night in these like this: 3k BH - QQ VS 10 9 AND 45 - 45 WON WITH A STRAIGHT 2K BH ( Which took me 2 hrs to qualify) AA VS KK ( WHEN IN P2 WITH 4HEADS) DEEP STACKS: DTD1 - AK VS A9 WHEN I HAD 24K CHIPS, SLIGHTLY GUTTED DTD2 QQ VS KK - DIDNT MIND LOSING THIS AS I WAS BEHIND FROM THE START HE HIT QUADS. I WAS IN A FEW MORE BUT I WAS WELL TILTED BY THEN. IS IT DOWN TO BAD LUCK OR SHOULDN'T I BE CALLING ALL IN WITH THESE RANGES, MAYBE I AM CONFUSED, I PERSONALLY WAS BEFORE TONIGHT GET IT IN WITH ACES,KINGS,QUEENS. I CERTAINLY LOST CONFIDENCE AS WHEN I 3 BET WITH AK AND I WAS RAISED ON TWO OCCASIONS I FOLD AS I DIDN'T WANT TO BE OUT ONCE MORE WHEN I WAS WELL SET, WAS REALLY ANNOYED AS I DIDN'T LOSE CHIPS THOUGH THE STREETS. CERTAINLY KNOCKED MY CONFIDENCE UNSURE WHAT TO DO MAYBE TAKE SOME TIME AWAY OR JUST TRY FREEROLLS, AS I PUT 200 ON SKYPOKER ABOUT 2 1/2 MONTHS AGO BUILT IT UP TO NEARLY 970 POUND AND DURING THE PAST 6 DAYS IT IS DOWN TO ABOUT 80 QUID PLEASE HELPP ME Posted by haylez83
Hi Haylez.
The hands you have posted below.......were they all - All-In Pre-flop?
3k BH - QQ VS 10 9 AND 45 - 45 WON WITH A STRAIGHT 2K BH ( Which took me 2 hrs to qualify) AA VS KK ( WHEN IN P2 WITH 4HEADS) DEEP STACKS: DTD1 - AK VS A9 WHEN I HAD 24K CHIPS, SLIGHTLY GUTTED DTD2 QQ VS KK - DIDNT MIND LOSING THIS AS I WAS BEHIND FROM THE START HE HIT QUADS.
If they were - then you were pretty unlucky tbh
QQ v 109 v 45 - How did this manage to go all-in preflop? AA v KK - Pretty standard & very unlucky AK v A9 we are ahead preflop but there is always a chance we are going to lose this flip QQ v KK - again, if we get it all-in pre-flop then we are unlucky to walk into KK
I pretty much hate getting it all-in pre-flop nowadays and would rather raise pre-flop and then reasses once the flop has come down.
Like I mentioned before, it's sometimes much easier to get someone off a hand once the flop is down rather than get them all-in pre, as you only leave them with a call or fold decision, it's much easier to get them to fold if we see the flop and it's also much easier for us to get away from it ourselves and move on to the next hand rather than risk all our chips.
In some cases though, even if we see the flop it can be difficult to get away from it ourselves but we have to balance what we could potentially gain against what we could lose if we risk all our chips on one hand. Sometimes its better to fold and move on against stubborn players.
We have to remember that AA, KK, QQ is a massive favourite pre-flop, but once all the chips are in, then anything could happen like 33, 44, 55 hitting a set for instance or QJs hitting a straight or flush.
Play them aggressively but be aware of the risks and if it looks like it could cost us our tourney then don't be afraid to fold them.
ps. It's also worth looking at stack sizes and being more aggro against the medium size stacks and staying away from the Big Stacks & Small Stacks.
The big stacks can take us out of a tourney & the small stacks are more likely to re-shove against our raises leaving us with no choice but to risk chips by having to call them.

Thanks trev for your reply.
they were all in pre flow apart from the one when the 4,5 hit a straight, the 45 when all in after the flop as the board had a 23 i suspect they wanted me to fold so i called as i thought i was in front which i was at that stage.
completely agree with what you have said i must re evaluate my game a little and try to cut out these errors or putting my tournament life on the line.
Haylez i'll leave the analysis of hands to others who are better than me but just to say rather than give us an edited version of the hand like you have it's better to post the full hand using copy and paste either in the poker clinic or on here. Trevor will be able to give you a full explanation how to do this if you need it. That way we can see blind levels and how the action developed.
But I think my bank roll management is pretty good and maybe I can give you some pointers. I'm slightly unclear about this sentence "AS I PUT 200 ON SKYPOKER ABOUT 2 1/2 MONTHS AGO BUILT IT UP TO NEARLY 970 POUND AND DURING THE PAST 6 DAYS IT IS DOWN TO ABOUT 80 QUID" Are you saying that you have lost £880 during the last 6 days or have you drawn out and your original £200 is down to £80? I'll assume the latter as if it's the first thats really quite unbelievable. Let's assume you have a bankroll of £200. That is enough to give you 40 buy ins at £5-00 which is acceptable. 40/50 buy ins is the norm. so if your regularly buying in to the £11-00 tourneys you need a roll of £440/500. If you play cash a recommended level is 20 buy ins so if you play cash where the max buy in is £10 you need a bankroll of £200.
If your playing satellites you need to set yourself a limit and stick to it. But Sats aren't my strongpoint I only usually play Primo sats and I limit myself to 3. If I'm not through at the 3rd attempt I find my play starts to suffer and frustration sets in. I'm sure the likes of Geldy knows a lot more about Sats bankroll management.
A quick word about tournament play. As you may have seen I posted yesterday about a serious leak in my game where I was calling allins for my tournament life and losing. Last night I managed to change it around by folding some pretty big hands preflop. I once read that the hands you fold can win you tournaments as much as the hands you play. I certainly believe that's true.
There's no problem with your hand range in those examples. From AA down to AQ are premium hands but like Trev says try to avoid allin situations too early in the game and be prepared to fold AK, AQ etc if you miss. Play premium hands strongly, never limp with them and if your ahead preflop you've done the right thing. When your continually losing flips it's simply -variance.
In Response to Re: Official - TPT (Team Poker Titans) Tribulations & Cashes : Well done Zoed Seems like a good nights work. Won't be seeing you all at Newcastle I'm afraid. Can't be bothered to rant again. Gory details of tonight's sat on my thread in poker chat if anyone is bored. Posted by Jac35
Just seen this in Poker chat section. Well done matisback but so unlucky thebil. To have the same 3 players in the top 10 of Main and Mini is pretty amazing.
Also a great result from thebil in the main and mini, he's playin pretty well at the mo and getting ever closer to a big result - Had him on my tables a lot just lately and he can be quite a tricky customer especially with a few chips behind him
I'm not playing much at the moment guys, a combination of not running good and a hecktic business schedule and personal things going on at the moment is not giving me a lot of time to focus on the poker at the moment.
I won't bore you with my badbeats, i'm sure u have enough of your own
Captains Nomination for the FREE Monthly Prize goes to............................ haylez83 Congratulations, you win a FREE Seat into the Mini BH on 5th Sept @ 8.15pm Posted by POKERTREV
Was chip leader for a while - down to last 8 but got creamed losing one race 10s v aq them being allin pre - perhaps should of put the 10s down but would of been massive chip leader - go for win? - then on ft short stacked ak all in v 33 and 3s held.
Very pleased with the way I played after very difficult last few months -dont think i put my chips at risk during whole tourney unless I was very sure I was ahead. No allins pre even when holding decent pairs q's j's 10's -seemed to work whereas before probably wouldnt think twice callng with q's. tightened game right up and it finally came good.
Thanks for rail JJ daggs and steely - much appreciated
Edit - might help if I put what it was - M/e satted in for 7 quid and came 5th - Won £442 including heads
Well done Jeff and Haha on the cahses, outstanding!

Let battle commence, it all starts tonight
We all know the outcome its gonna be WHITE
Our opponents first up are the team in Green
The colour of slime and snot and all things obscene
They will quickly crumble, turn and take flight
Once they see the power of WHITE
Then comes the team dressed in cowardly Yellow
Managed by Richard a very odd fellow
It will be great fun
As his team turns and run
And his haircut reminds me of the men made of LEGO
Next up to be culled are the team dressed in Blue
Nothing to worry about, they haven’t a clue
Led by a lady(!!!) with the most inappropriate name
“Champion”, my a ss, they will finish last in the game
And then come the team kitted out in Purple
Some of them look as though they would make the milk curdle
Up goes the cheer
As they tremble in fear
For they will surely fall at the first hurdle
And last up come the team dressed in red
It wont be long before they’re going to bed
Julian Thew I hear you cry
Julian WHO i say in reply
The battle will be short and all through the night
You will hear the victorious chant of WHITE WHITE WHITE
