Riots!

edited August 2011 in The Shed
What the Hell is going on ?

London, Birmingham,now im hearing Wolverhampton.

Half the people are doing it for a laugh, the police are a joke, this is what happens when the public isn't scared of the police, perhaps this would be different if the police was aloud to use more force like in some other countries.

Makes me laugh hearing so called experts trying to justify it.

Most of it is now just down to kids jumping on the bandwagon and looting.

They should get locked up for armed robbery.

The prisons are overcrowded enough, the looters must realise that everyone isn't going to get punished

Hi Guys, obviously this isn't poker related in any way but rather than move / close the thread, which would no doubt kick off on the forums, I'll leave well alone.

Sky Poker may take a different view in the morning, but I think it's sensible to keep the discussion in a single thread.

We have bankers gambling with our GDP, losing and reloading (then collecting a mega rakeback aka bonus).

We have people on benefits 'earning' more and having a better standard of living than people working their butts off for minimum wage.

We have MPs skimming off our taxes to buy adult movies.

We have huge immigrant ghettoes in most cities.

We have a generation of angry young men from sink estates who have no concept of what a father is, and have therefore turned to gangs for their role models.

    Is this really any surprise?

I am in no way excusing what has been done, but I do think that some form of civil unrest was inevitable.  I was in a taxi that was stoved in by bricks during the poll tax riots (I was 11).  In no way excusable to aim bricks at kids' heads, but the protestors were right.  This has turned into an anticapitalism protest, which was certainly long overdue.   If only the educated middle classes weren't so spineless (and our politicians so corrupt) - the major issues facing our country might have been solved democratically.

I posted last night in the Shed that London had gone bonkers, but as I've just posted in the shed - it's now

    I N S A N E.

The Sony building has apparently just "exploded" near Enfield and practically every borough in London currently has either fires and / or looting+robbery (A Mcdonalds just got raided in Canning Town by 25 people armed with hammers etc). By all accounts Ealing's being ransacked without much (if any) police being able to respond to attacks, they just don't have the numbers.

I don't want to go to bed because I'm worried I'm going to wake up to the opening scene of '28 days later'.

Ofc Enfield and Croydon are technically outside London and as posts have stated above, this has been spreading round the country.

    What is going on.

I've just heard Woolwich High St. (Literally the high street inc the wetherspoons) has been totally raided by anything upto 200 pondscum.

(apologies for that insult to pondscum).

The problems can't be solved, Europe is falling along with the US, China, India and the rest of the BRICKS are taking over, this is not a recession its a re balancing of world power and it's heading east. The UK is bankrupt, the cuts are not even close to the levels they needed to be because the govt hasn't got the nuts to deal with the real issue. Your right our kids have no jobs but the future will be worse, much, much worse, look at the gold price, money is losing its value and the US has had its credit rating downgraded!! This country will be stuck where it is going nowhere for at least the next 10 years, you made some excellent points re bankers and kids but the real issue in the west is that every country overspent and now most including the UK can't pay the bill, look at Greece, Portugal, Ireland, Spain, Italy, only Germany and Sweden/Norway have a chance. There is no way out because cutting spending to the right levels would create more unemployment and more unrest.

Get the army in to start shooting, that will clear them off the streets, if it doesn't then they'll be kissing the pavement. Society wins either way, job done, riot over, me for PM

I blame the thieving morons who are terrorising the whole community.

Every single one of us is affected by a corrupt and incompetent government, that is no excuse for what is happening now.

    +1 stien,
Financial Armagedon springs to mind, o yeah, did not our so-called finance & budget experts, [Brown & co], sell half our Gold reserves at rock bottom price, this would nearly have solved this current prob for UK!!!!

On a More serious note, there is a riot in ma front room, The Hitwife has looted ma wallet, & ran off with the laptop!!!

The worst thing is imo that these 'tards are rioting because of no jobs/high cost of living/high taxes and the morons havent got te foresight to realise that the billions of £'s of damage the're causing is going to lead to even higher taxes to rebuild the damn country. Or maybe they are so stupid they think they can get a job rebuildin the local starbucks!!! either way its a short drop and sudden stop they need!
