Bounty Hunter Strategy

I just wanted to get the opinion of some seasoned MTTers on whether you think you should change up your play for a bounty hunter. I tend to usually stick to my normal strategy for standard MTTs and I go deep as often in BHs as I wouldin a regular but I tend to get very few bounties. Should I worry about this or is it just more situational and if the opportunity to stack someone hasn't come up, then it hasn't come up.

Play tends to be more aggressive and things seem looser pre-flop, so I would normally tighten up when surrounded by loose players, although this can sometimes lead to me just slowly bleeding chips through blinds.

So what do you (consistent profitable MTTers please) think is the best way to go into a bounty hunter? Just treat it as a regular and think of the bounties as a bonus?

im quite good at these and last couple of bounty hunters i took about 27 heads in 2 games. But the best strategy i find is play tight and get good hands at the start to double your stack if possible so you have advantage. That way when people start to loose chips and are vunalrable you can play a bit looser when the short stacks limp in or shove generally make sure you have tripple there stack or more and if they shove all in raise dont call so you can isolate them and not have others trying to get there bounties. The good thing about bounty hunters is you can aim to get 3 bountys and then its a free game. but dont try and play large stacks that you know are gonna only leave you a small percentage of chips or you become the target and will be called by allsorts. Still play as you would a normal mtt but just make the adjustments with slightly looser play against the short stacks. And dont just call with any too cards as those short stacks will prob wait for a strong hand to double up and stay in i find most will just wait for any A or pk pair so if your going to be getting involved make sure you have good suited conectors big pk pairs above 9s or a big A. If your lucky you can get a couple at the same time as players get greedy and play rubbish and be calling with any 2 cards which can also be at your advantage if you are strong then punish them for getting involved in the hand, or take a big chunk of of them and take them down a couple of hands later as they end up being short stacked. Just be carefull that you dont get greedy and look at your position so if you are in a big stack behind you dosnt do this tactic to you.

The main point of the game is to win it and any bountys you get along the way are a bonus and the short stacks you take out will build your stack bigger to go for the win.

Yeah I think this was a really good summary Dazler. I'll take everything you've said on board, play a couple of the £2 BHs today and see how I do. I'll post on here if I get any great results
