Any chance sky could possibly look into having a "time bank"

edited October 2009 in Poker Chat

Just wondering if skypoker maybe could look into introducing a"time bank system" especially for the deepys, say a 60/120second clock which enables the thinking player to look at the hand and the way the streets were played, reason im asking was that i played last night had pocket 9s flop came 8 7 2 i think, my opponent who i know is solid, led for 1.4k into a 3k pot or so, i just felt i didnt have enough time to think about this hand and folded my 9s, my initial thought was that he had JJ-AA but after thinking about it i felt i maybe was ahead, but having 15 seconds or whatever it is to make decisions is sometimes not easy, as im not a "lets get em in and gamble player." just an idea and i know it would take some work to do but would help people improve their game about analyzing the board instead of "shipping it in" just a thought, cheers jimbo:-)

Love this idea but think it should be across all tables and not just Deepys. Great Idea Jimbo

Whilst I am not against a 'time bank' there would be instances of abuse.

Take a DYM with 5 minute blinds. If all the players had 2 minute time banks then towards the end of the tournament people would deliberately use it to increase the blind that the shortie is about to pay. I have seen it done, here and on other sites.

Here, it mat be worth waiting that few extra seconds before folding as the time for the blind increase is about to hit zero. Bit ungentlemanly but it happens. If you are sb and waiting a minute or so before folding because there's still a minute of play before the blinds go up is just wrong.

    Good point about the DYMs/SnGs.

A time bank is needed in cash for sure, and maybe a reduced time bank would be available for tournies where the abuse of the feature could be utilised.

I'd say 60 secs for cash and 30 secs for tournies.

The time bank is deductable while you are on the table, so if you use 10 secs for one hand then you have 50 left.

this works well with other sites like ladbrokes, a great thing when u are in a table full of crazy players who just bet, bet and bet again!

Could definitely use a timebank on here.

The pots can get pretty big in cash games and for you to only have 10 or 15 seconds to make your mind up (sometimes less depending on the lag we get on here!) is horrible especially if a pot has gotten out of control!

Facing a shove on the river for big pots and trying to work it all out in 10 seconds really isn't fair tbh.

In respect of DYM's, could the clock on the blinds not be stopped if somebody went into their timebank to stop any wrong doing?

    Great idea cliokid, nice one.

A timebank is quite common on other sites. Sometimes you really need that extra time to re-run the hand before you make your play. As mentioned the timebank should be a reducing balance determined at the start.

A time bank would be great for cash and deepies, good post Jim.

It wouldnt work for tv tournies or fast tournies like Velocity etc, so i think it should just be available for cash and for deepies.

I don't think I'm qualified mate but personally I'm running for the hills as soon as Greg's hand starts moving towards his chips.
    I'm 99.9% sure he's photo-shopped the HH. ;-)
