Best Starting Hand Cracked By Worst...

In Response to Best Starting Hand Cracked By Worst...:
Early on in a £3.30 DYM. I'd been very solid, as always. Always nice to see the best starting hand in Hold 'em beaten by the worst starting hand... (well, if it was offsuit) I don't play alot of DYMs so would appreciate the opinion of a regular DYMer, is there anything I can do here or am I just unlucky. After calling my re-raise pre I ruled out K2, K3 and 23, I figured 22 was pretty unlikely as well. I guess he could have 77 and possibly KK (although I would expect a 3bet pre) and I figure if he has these then so be it because the majority of the time he won't have them. The shove also looks like a draw which it was in the end, so I know I got the money in when I was ahead but is there an arguement for folding this because it is a DYM which is basically the same as a satellite and there's no need to go for the win so I could have just waited for a better spot OR am I just whinging because I got outdrawn? He even had the cheek to say that he'd already put 120 in and if I'd raised a bit more he would have folded!!

...I didn't realise that a 15X raise was small enough to allow 72s in...

pretty certain callin it off here is fine

the only pair n flush draw combo u shud really b able 2 expect here is Ah2h, which obv is not poss as we hold the Ah, think its pretty unlikely that ur gonna see 2 pair aswell of a K23 brd, n i dnt think iv eva seen a set just open jam in this spot so that shud rule out 22/33, im presumin KK ships it pre, or does some min4b anyways!

i dnt think ur always gonna be up against a flush draw, he's 4x'd utg so readless i think u can expect to see alot of Kx hands, plus having the Ah is gd 2 cover bk dr draws

i think ur equity here vs the range i wud put him on is HUGE

But does this change for a DYM? Obviously if it was cash, I'd be happy if this was the only situation I saw for the rest of my playing life but here if I'm up against 4 to the flush quite often, do I need to take that risk of him hitting it 1 time out of 3 when it's only a DYM and I don't need the win?

isnt he actually ahead on the flop pair + FD im sure thats got 60% odds.

    also standard.
  • edited August 2011
No, he does have a pair, but so do I, a better one, so obviously he has two 2s to hit, three 7s or a heart, but if he hits a 7 I could counterfeit his 2pair. I'm ahead but I think its only about 60/40. I'm more annoyed about his pre-flop call. Flat calling a decent sized 3bet OOP with absolute junk AND I hadn't raised with anything less than premium hands

I dont think you need to think too much here lambert.  A dym is your least gamble game by definition.  He's opening 4x with 72 UTG then opting to call a 3 bet.

I dont think you need to know anymore about him, pretty much speaks for hs level :p

in this instance it aint great coz ur practically flipping in a dym, which, in level2 u dnt want to be doing

however, vs the range of hands he cud have in this spot i think u have over 70% equity which means its fine getting it in
