2.2-2.5x raises are effective in mtts when the blinds are 50/100+
besides if people want to call or raise light cause of a min-raise, all the better
The site itself does not advocate anything, it up to the players, but Channel 865, with a remit to educate & entertain, does not advocate min-raising, EXCEPT in certain circumstances where it is quite legitimate so to do.
It's one of those pecularities of poker, like checking in the dark. A lot of people do it, but very few know why, or what affect it has on pot sizes & odds. Poker players are slavish followers of fashion, & so everyone is at it now.
It's rather sad, actually, because in most cases, it is not the optimal play, but many players - on all sites - do not self-examine, & just play the same game all the time "by habit".
But it is easy to combat, if you think about it, & I love a Table of min-raisers & stations.
people either fold or shove regardless what you raised so how is it optimal to lose more when you have to fold to a shove
and i would say its the same on every site i ever played on - early stages people tend to raise 3x and this gradually reduces to a min raise by late stages
The question, I think, was addressding the widespread practive of min-raising as a general rule, rather than specifically when the shoe fits.
We hope to discuss the habit of min-raising on tonight's Live Show, on Channel 865.
I had to withdraw my entire roll on all sites ($5k) for some life emergency and have been unable to grind for like a year or summit. Basically I was living with my dad in a house with no internet.
Just thought I'd pop by and see how the strategy forum was and if any of the dudes I used to play were here.
Also as a side not I like the majority of the forum, it's just some of them (when I was here) were very wrong about some things strategy related and adamant that they were right. Also the whole hit n run fiasco lolz.
But anyway yeah, I might stay for a while idk, im just on just now cause I ran like suck and dont want to play anymore cause i'll play bad.
