Is it possible to use logic when betting in a Freeroll?

Hi guys,
First time poster so I'll apologise up front if this subject has already been done to death.
There are obviously many ways to play Poker and the range goes from 2/4 cent Hold 'em to multi-table tournaments with a $100 buy-in. At any of these games, savvy players can view an opponents bet and take a rough guess, with reasonable accuracy, at their hole cards. By the same token, being involved in any of these games allows players to learn such that, even if they lose a few $$$, they can say that they learned something for the future so it wasn't a total loss.
But then you have Freeroll tournaments.
Can you still use those games in the same way? Or do all the normal rules go out of the window?
The thing is, because playing the game is costing nothing, some players will act completely different to the way they would play a money game. When asked about their play on the table, their reply is usually along the lines of, "It's only a Freeroll"
In my humble opinion, there is no such thing as "Only a Freeroll".
Think of it this way, you can play a money game like an angel and finish out of the money. That's just bad luck and worse cards. But if you play a Freeroll the same way, you could win yourself a few bucks which, in turn, lets you play a $2 buy-in game with a $500 pot which gives you a chance to get yourself some spending cash. And all from a Freeroll.
Sorry for changing the subject a tad.

that's a good way of thinking about it - if you have the correct mentality in freerolls you'll probz cash quite a few times as it requires quite little poker skill

don't care how other players play, you're always gonna come up against millions of donks/fishs in freerolls - just try play solid poker and you'll do well - bet big with big hands etc ..

All the logic suggests you should play only strong hands, bet very big, and very rarely bluff.

The logic playing these is a basic strategy based upon the fact that if you tighten your starting range up then it is usually miles ahead of most others. When you hit, bet big and you will get called by weaker hands.

Yup, same as above. Although to win/go deep in some of these freerolls that have say 300-400+ people in them and alot are playing it like it's 'only a freeroll' then there are ALOT of mines to dodge. This is always the case in a big tourney, but it is true moreso when you have stupid people calling big raises pre with 36 against your AK and the flop comes 36K...

Also, I've found you can "usually" spot the players who c/r with rubbish much quicker in a Freeroll as more hands go to showdown than in a normal MTT.
