Why you should top up in cash games.

This was painful...

Today, I was playing a hand against a maniac (2p/4p cash). He was raising pre-flop, post-flop, every street, with ANYTHING. (Sometimes calling, sometimes folding, totally unpredictable and apparently random.)

I raised with JJ, he calls. Flops comes 443, harmless enough, I raise, he calls. Turn is a 6, I raise again, he goes all-in. Knowing his style, I figure a call has pretty good EV. He had 25, for goodness' sake!

Anyway... that left me with £0.03 for the next hand.

Being the big blind I was automatically all-in.

Was dealt TJ suited, not bad.

Pot goes 3-way with the maniac and another loose player. Flop comes 8TT.

The maniac and the loose player get into a raising war and both end up all-in.

I go on the win with my three 10s and triple up.... I turned my £0.03 into.... £0.09!

If only I had been able to top up before the next hand I would have probably have made £8 profit.

Sigh.
