Early morning train to London and our Saturday at Poker in the Park 2011 began! Good journey there and hit M and M's store Leicester Square for much needed retail therapy, then onto Slug and Lettuce to whet the throat with trendy designer cider and draught Peroni, our walk to Hanover Sq was eventful as we bumped into Les Miserables star Alfie Boe who was very nice and spoke with us. But poker was our aim and we arrived at Hanover Sq to find they had a bar but no toilets, who organises an event with no toilets!!
Poker celeb spotting commenced and we watched Toby Lewis do a Q and answer session, afterwards I grabbed him and he was kind enough to do some pics and help me with my AK problems, some great advice which has already paid dividends. In the bar we managed to grab John Duthie and also bumped into Tina (Karlluke). Adam Goulding from Blackbelt was kind enough to do some pics and then Neil Channing and Roland De Wolfe came over for a chat and autographs/pics. Roland bid £2000 for a signed Barcelona shirt, he told me he won £100k the night before, I offered him a TKP place but Orange not his colour.
I grabbed Sam Trickett next, he was really nice and chatted for 5 mins or so, mainly about his heater at the start of the year and his hopes for next year, he even played one of the freeroll tournaments, nice one Sam, our next victim was James Bord, very short man, cushion required for the seats i reckon! Also grabbed JP Kelly after the poker awards.
We had registered for a freeroll tournament, the Fox Poker club game, 5 tables of 10, top 2 from each table to advance to final, 10 min blinds 4 levels 1500 chips, prizes for high hand and win with 72. I started nicely and was in the top 2 for most of this game, One big hand was my AJ all in v Q Q v Sian's 7 2! The flop delivered me an A and Sian a 7 ! Yorkie was short so i was praying for a deuce or 7 so she won a hoodie but alas, I improved with a J and sent both Sian and QQ man packing, I then took 3 bad beats to go 4/4 and was all in blind in my BB, I turned over AA and promptly doubled through 3 times to win the table and make FT, my prize? A model London bus
The FT was good fun 5k in chips 5 levels of 10 mins but blinds starting at 300/600! It was very fast but I got the cards and the spots and ended up heads up for a lovely glass trophy 35k to 15k, he chipped away at me and I stayed patient but at 31/19k lead I picked up 55 and moved all in, he called with Q 6 and a flop of KKQ left me dead in the water as a K on turn and 6 on river did for me, next hand with 11k left I moved in with Q3 and he called QJ, no help and I was the bridesmaid! Bit gutted as the trophy was lovely but 2nd of 50 was a great result and valuable experience, brilliant for free also!!
Nice meal out and a few more beers and that was our Poker in the Park weekend, pics to follow!!

Nice one Dave, enjoyed reading all that apart from your brags/bad beat stories
