Was I wrong to push

Blinds were 100 200. I was big blind with with less than 10 bb's left. Got pocket 7's. The big stack on the table raised twice the bb. As he had been pushing the bb's alot I decided to shove and put the lot in. He turned  a 9 high unsuited hand. The flop came down with a 9 and the turn and river didn't change it. Looking for any advice on how I could have played it better.

With less than 10 BB you have to ship with ANY ace or pair!

Get your money in first when your short stacked too!

Yeah i lost the hand. My opponents 9 paired on the flop. I've been trying to tifghten my play so wasn't sure if shoving with the 7's was the right call

I think he meant, would you have posted the hand if you'd won. It was the right move to make and your gonna win here more often that you don't. I think Young Gun's point was that, if you'd have won (which would happen more often that not) then you wouldn't be posting this hand and doubting whether it was the right move or not. Just because you didn't win that one time, doesn't mean it's wrong.

Your right Lambert. I misread Young Guns post. I guess I wouldn't have posted if I'd won the hand. Thanks for the advice.

yh the right decision is the right decision, regardless of the result. I know a guy in the pub league i play in who will fold something like QQ pre flop and then say see I was right when someone wins the hand with an ace or whatever.
