Well you've answered your own question.

The very nature of a Bad Beat is you being outdrawn when the odds are very much against it happening... i.e. most of the time you win... so be happy you're having situations where the majority of the time you'll win.

Fish have feelings you know, we of the fish community find this sort of
anti fishphobia quite hurtful and should it continue we will gird our scales and find pastures
new. Fish of the sky-world unite and fight back with even more donk calls and raises. LOL

'If you cant beat them, join 'em'

best way to play the fish, is to be a 'fish' yourself...start opening limping, see lots of flops, plenty of min raising and check call every street and let 'Villain' do the betting

Doesn't always work at 4NL, because alot of the fish down there are loose passive, so they see loads of flops but never bet, so you do have to do the betting yourself.

Just tighten your opening range to premium hands and when you hit the flop, bet for value on every street.

And there lies the sting in the tail !.........you become too predictable and surely the opposite happens ie; you become a nit and or a TAG, so where is the value in that if everyone can read you like a book ?

Hi dude.....I'm on a huge learning curve and only dabble with cash games v.infrquently......but no i wasn't really taking the pee. It's just that I struggle with so many differing views about poker strategy in general and tbh I was just offering another view. In cash games I was of the opinion that we all need to open our calling range a lot wider as opposed to mtt play, or am i wide off the mark?

It all depends which level you're playing at and how the rest of the players at your table are playing.

As a general rule for the lowest levels such as NL4 alot of players play any two cards so it's more profitable to play tighter and bluff less as players can't lay down any hands.

+1  I think when ppl see the TSPer,s and other good players on the higher stakes making raises pre-flop on a wide range and 3 betting on wide ranges they think they should be copying which is all well and good but not at NL4 , but as the stakes get higher I.d say you need to be more creative and can,t be just playing prem hands as it is to readable.
I,ve posted 1 or 2 hands recently and keep getting told - Fold pre. There has to be a balance to what levels you start getting more creative . not sure from what levels , but i,ve found at NL20 the strategy is a lot diffferent to NL4 and  you have to play a lot ore more than prem hands - Hope that makes sense

Perfectly gd sense and it was exactly this thinking that I was alluding to in my previous post when dudeskin thought I was taking the pee, it was just my lack of experience in not realising that i/we should be being more creative at a much higher level and playing more abc at the lowest level...ty all......(still nervous of cash games tho !........were you when you 1st started ?).
