short stacks at cash tables, love em or hate em?

edited September 2011 in Poker Chat
just wondering what the majority of players think to short stackers, at first they used to get on my nerves, doing things like shoving on my raises or shoving preflop and making it more a bingo game and distrupting the flow of the game, but i must admit i have changed my mind, i actually enjoy playing them, i think it adds a different dimension to the game and using position correctly and studying their actions, you can actually bully these guys and take advantage of their stack. Whats your thoughts on them?

i love them. my thinking is if they come to the table with £17.66 on a nl30 table then they are not br for that level and so are not good enough to play there, which makes me a better player than them! this might not be the case but it makes me feel better that i am sat down with an inferior player!

Love marmite, love shorties. Not only the obvious BR issue but shows a lack of general poker awareness which is easily exploitable. Im no going to give my strategy away but played properly isolating shorties can be very profitable. In fact I would rather sit down with 5 shorties than 5 fully stacked opponents.

Another advantage is that if you get them all in your liability is limited if you suck out or they actually have the goods.

And their range is so polarised. I never quite understood the benefits. I've played a plethora of shorties that just try to double up then hit and run then open up 2 tables to continue the strategy. Because of their stack size too they have to get over aggressive oop. They soon get pot committed after an initial raise. I've seen so many of them bust out shoving with A-Q/J to a re-raise. Not always a good idea.
I can't believe that they play this way in full ring games.
Be interesting to hear strategy tips from a profitable short stacker. Maybe they find there is more fun equity with all the cheeky spin-ups ?
