Grinding Back to ZERO - The Pokertrev Diaries

edited September 2011 in Poker Chat

I'm a winning player live and cash, however, MTT's (Multitable Tournaments) have taken their toll on my stats in a certain online stats website.

I generally play MTT's as a recreation hobby mostly for fun and banter. It is and always will be a HOBBY for me first & formost.

Ever since I cut down on the amount of times I go to the pub and spend money, I have played poker to relax and unwind from a hard days graft and find it very satifying even if it is somewhat frustrating at times.

But for a bit of fun and as a goal, I have decided to see if it is possible for me to grind my stats back up to ZERO. I will be doing this mainly by way of Sit & Goes & DYM's, but hopefully I can add a couple of good MTT cashes to the tally as well.

The Stats so Far.
I have been playing on Sky for just over 2 years
Games Played = 4332
S&G & MTT Losses = -£2462

Obviously these sites don't take into account Cash & Live winnings, but we are only interested in the STT S&G's & MTT's for the purpose of these diaries.

So I will start today and see how long it takes (hopefully) to grind my way back up to the ZERO Line and keep you informed.

Luckily there was a great Blog by John Conner recently so at least some of that information may come in handy.

Wish me Luck - I'll keep you posted.

    Good luck Trev.

I think this is a great idea for a challenge by the way.

I'll look forward to reading about your progress.

GL Trev, this looks like a great challenge for you, I will follow with interest.

GL, i too have been here for about 2 years, im up 1500 overall for sng and mtt, but my sng is terrible at minus 300 odd, its all these crazy irishrover challenges, and the thursday late night drunk dym's that do me in, so i will also try to get my stt table to zero as well, but i think you've got your work cut out to retrieve 2.5k, you could always do it the lazy way - ask rover to ''zero'' your sharkscope for you, he knows how.

    Cheers Looney.

Interesting. GL Trev. Hope you keep us informed.

Surprised you're that much down Trev.

Would have guessed you'd be around break even, but you do pop up in some of the bigger games sometimes, so I assume alot of the damage is from big tournys that you've satted into?

Anyway diary threads are always interesting.

    Good luck!

    You are correct JJ.
I do play a lot of sats into the ME's and this drasticly effects the stats if you don't cash.

    Anyway I made a start:
             2,462.00
     £              9.00
                  5.50
     £              2.70
    Total        2,455.80

  • edited September 2011
Gl mate but tbh mine are of a similar number , though mot quite that much BUT lots and lots of my so called losses are through sattin into big buy-ins so all in all i would prob be bout even overall

Does satelliting into a tourney effect your graph? by this i mean if you sat in for say £2.40 to a £22 buy in, does it assume you lost £22 and not £2.40? if this is the case, surely this is a flaw in the system?
  • edited September 2011
Not so sure its a good idea But in the words of Mr sparks: A challenge! Note to self stop watching Noddy!!!

    Hi loony
you are correct, if you satelite into a tourny it assumes you have paid the entry fee and counts it as a £22 loss

even worse if you sat into the £55.00 primo.

Quite bazaarly, since setting myself this challenge, I am on one of my worst runs ever.

Could just be trying to make the adjustment from MTT's to DYM's, but clearly the cards are not doing me any favours either at the moment.

Here are a couple of examples.
Flopped Ace Flush getting out drawn to a full house on the river.
KK getting out drawn v 88 all in, 8 on the turn
QQ v set 6's - obviously a 500 raise pre flop is not scaring these peeps in DYM's.

AK on an AQ7 flop rainbow board, I threw the shed and the lawn mower at him only to find he wasn't giving it up. oppo calls me with Q10 and as if by a mirracle 10 shows its ugly head on the river.

I have been experimenting at a few levels though,b ut i'm yet to discover which is the most suitable.
So after a little rest, we are off again for another bash - This time ultra tight and I mean tighter than my wife purse :)

I don't think this actually is the case, In the FAQ they say that If you win a sattelite the price of the buyin to the actual tournament is considered a cash win.

Eg if you Sat into the primo it would count as a £43 profit, £55 Primo seat - £12 Satellite fee

According to that, It should only think that you've lost £55 in the primo but should also think that you've won £43 in the Sattelite, therefore £12 down. That is if the FAQ is accurate.

I can only go off what I have seen on my stats. Its shows the loss for the main event. It doesn't acually recognise the satalites at all.

I played the 8K BH Semi Final Sat Today but its not listed in my stats.

Not sure why they never show.

Give it up or change your game plan. take it from me in dyms you dont need to play every hand just sit and wait for position and a good hand to play and play it well. I know you like to play your way but try it once atleast.

This is a direct quote from the Sharkscope FAQ: "Satellite prizes are converted into their cash values."

So if people are having this problem then Sharkscope's FAQ is clearly wrong (Or just not accurate for Sky poker).
