DYM query.

edited September 2011 in Poker Chat

Just wondering, if for example i accumulate 9k chips in a DYM.   2 other players are sat on 500 chips (lets call them player A and player B),  and another player has 2000 chips (player C).     Lets say player C has been very abusive and targetted me in other games,  am i aloud to to do everything i can to prevent player C from winning? e.g  Raising him, setting him all in.  Folding good hands v player A and B , so i dont risk knocking them out.
Just this happened to me in a recent game.  When players were all in, and i'd called, he would then call and shove the flop (when everyone knows its standard to check it down) after missing everything to ensure the other players survived and i went on to lose.

Was just wondering if there was any rules against this ?
Any help would be much appreiciated.  Thanks

Provided there is no clear evidence of collusion you can do pretty much what you like regarding spite calling and protecting the shorties by jamming into a dry side pot with no hand.  Chip dumping without collusion (say you raise to 490 total, one of the short stacks shove for ten more and you fold) is much more of a grey area.  Technically you can fold here but to do it over and over again shows you are soft playing/chip dumping certain people and will at the very least lead to accusations and the appearance of collusion.

wouldn't advise it as it will probably end up with people thinking your colluding not worth the bother, still shove on him everytime just to annoy him for lolz ;)

I DON`T CARE WHAT OTHER PLAYER IS SAYING I`M IN TO CASH, BUT SAYING THAT IF PLAYER (C) IS BEING ABUSIVE WITH FOUL LANGAUGE THEN I`D SUGGEST YOU REPORT TO COSTOMER CARE AS SKY WILL NOT PUT UP WITH ABUSE AT TABLES.

    Thanks guys.
I would never do this myself anyway, prefer to just cash and move to the next game(s), plus i would probably end up losing somehow.   Just felt hard done by when it happened to me (im a sore loser , i know).

Just seems abit unfair that the monster stack can basically decide the fate of the other players !

I agree Tommy,  but if i raise to 475 , he shoves for 500 and i get timed out because "im watching tv"  , not much they can do i suppose.

cheers again and GL at the tables.

As I hinted in my first post, you'd probably get away with it the first time round, maybe receive a little abuse.  If you repeat the act then you're going to be in a spot of bother IMO.

Agreed. Failing to call the extra 25 when in the hand 'because of TV' .. well it would have to be some pretty awesome hardcore romance to distract that much!

I doubt you will. It will be fine. I used to do it for the lolz. It's completely fair play, doesn't break the rules.

Hi m8 am ashamed to say have done similar to a player who has deliberatly cost me a game by stupid play I would normally reasonably politely point out their mistake but if i get abuse back then I will make a note to return  the beat later and I always do lol
