The consolation of playing micro stakes - a timely reminder.
Here's one that reminds me why I stick to the micros for entertainment value, and why I have (so far at least) avoided the temptation to play at higher stakes.
After the 6c hit the board I put player B on a set of 6s. It did occur to me that he might be chasing a flush, and I'm sure he hoped that's what I was thinking, but so what - FH will carry, and the chances of us both hitting a FH, with player B holding 6s over 8s was remote. So in it all goes, with only 3 cards in the 46 unseen that could result in a winning hand. Ker-ching . . . . I have to say I never expected the call, as with a pair on the board and a three BB raise on a 4,8,6, I thought the writing would have been on the wall? Perhaps he put me down as a bluffer chasing a spade flush? Perhaps he didn't even consider what I might have been holding?
The consolation thought is that if I had been playing this on a cash table it would have cost me at least a buy-in, possibly more, depending on what I could have shoved in. One of those one in two hundred-ish toxic hands I've commented upon in the past.
Good cards everyone.
