Here's a made up scenario. On another poker site I get a bonus of £100 every week. In fact, I have received £100 a week for years. The poker site have now said that they will double my bonus each week and continuing over the next few weeks. They add that the double bonus is paid in a certain way; half will be paid to my account and half will be held back in a "Christmas Fund".
How much bonus will I receive in my account next week?
next week £200
the week after £400
week after that £800
....... and so on
hello all,
the reason for this vote is to understand what you in our community would understand to be the double bonus incentive contained within the team sky poker package. the headline incentive is the £1,000 guaranteed buy-in. second to that is the tv appearance, sky clothing and the double bonus offer.
i am nearing the end of my tsp period and having earned £75, £50 and £75 bonus in each month (total £200) i thought that the double bonus incentive, of which half would be retained and put towards a tournament buy-in, would mean that i would receive the other half in my account. apparently not.
this is why i asked the community what you think of the text that describes the bonus. your interpretation is important as i have spend time discussing this with skypoker. their position is that the added bonus in this incentive is all retained toward the £1,000 guaranteed buy in.
i have urged a change to the incentive. offering double bonus is, in practise, false and superfluous to all of us other than high volume cash players. the double bonus, according to skypoker's interpretation, is not payable to those who do not earn in excess of £1,000 bonus for the quarter.
the actual text of the agreement relating to this is as follows...
"During the Membership Period you will receive double cash for poker points accrued during the Membership Period. The double cash for points is awarded on the basis that half of the points will be converted into cash and half held in your TSP Bankroll and this to be put towards the Guarantee Buy-in and the remaining half will be credited to your Sky Poker online customer account."
i have exhausted all conversations on this as the position skypoker have taken is that they interpret the above to mean no payment of half the additional bonus. however i now feel under pressure from the "suits" over this thread. i simply asked for your views and would take your comments to steer us in this matter. i wanted to ask your views in a fair, unbiased and balanced way. your views might help skypoker clarify the incentive and make it clear to all what it actually means in practice.
what do you think? and is the forum the right place to debate an incentive scheme that is aimed at us all?
the solution i am seeking is to be given the £100 bonus i was anticipating. the solution i would like is to give the £100 to charity and i choose hitman_rv's charity as the beneficiary.
so this is the end of the matter for me. and, for the avoidance of doubt, team sky poker is a great place to be. the people are great, the scheme is great, the experience has been fun. i will try again and woud persuade you to try too.
EDIT: Other £100 for live tourneys
the problem might be avoided in future by not offering the tsp incentive with mention of two distinct and discrete elements in the package (guarantee buy-in and double bonus) when in practice that are neither separate nor mutually exclusive.
perhaps it is more accurate to promote the package by stating that, in practice, the double bonus incentive will not ever be payable as all sums will be absorbed within the guaranteed buy-in(s) incentive.
