Horrible river spot

Apologies for the number of hands I've posted. I'm just trying to figure out if I really am a complete tard at this game who got lucky for a while or whether it's variance going against me.

No reads on oppo. I flatted pre as I'm OOP & can then get away cheaply should overs come on the flop. The large opening raise pre was pretty standard for the table. I checked the flop with the intention of check/raising but he scuppered that idea by flatting behind!

Turn was a scare card so if I kill the hand there & then it's not the worst thing in the world. As he flats rather than raising I figured he's more likely to have some 2p combo although there is now a possible straight on board.

When he shoves the river should this be a snap fold or is it a crying call? I was really stumped at the time & nearly timed out trying to decide.

I think the more interesting question is:

What's better on the river, c/c or b/f?

As played fold readless.  (but pay attention to him, if he keeps raising rivers in spots like this with other people, sooner or later they will get called a few times and then you have your reads).

I'd usually 3bet pre readless, dont hate the flat though

Out of curriosity what are we putting him on to make this river bet? What hand is he going to raise pre flop and then not bet on that flop? The flop is likely to have hit your range so he may have missed the flop and not bothered with a c-bet since he knows he's behind. Maybe he has TT but then he would not call the turn bet with 3 over cards out there just to hit a four-outer on the river. AT would make sense but so would AQ.


His stupid over bet on the end is a very good bet because his hand is so polarised. But I think it would be a smart move on his part if he has raised the river with AQ or a missed flush draw.

Probably a stupid question but if you c/r the turn are you then calling any bet on the river?
