edited October 2011 in Poker Chat

Mod_JockBM

thread here on 2p2

also info on william hill website!

in their T&C's

10.1.1.4 in games offered via the Website which benefit from more players or greater liquidity we may deploy electronic players (known as robots, and whose usernames will be "bot") who are pre-programmed to play and join in with the game in order to assist the liquidity or the number of players gaming although we will not use bots without making such usage clear to You

at least they are called bots so its obvious to all

That thread title is is completely incorrect, sadly. Those T & C’s come from their CASINO Site, NOT their Poker Site. The kids on 2+2 got it wrong, as usual.

There may well be bots on WHP, or i-Poker, I have no idea , but both I-Poker & WHP specifically outlaw them in their T & C’s.

Note also that WHP have NOT admitted it - in fact, they specifically denied it, based upon the comments above.

    That apart, everything is correct.....

would you agree though tikay that they are put in to reduce overlay of their tournaments ( if they are inhouse bots as being suggested) ? ..... pretty crazy when scoping that specific bot that it is up over $7k without including its winnings within the cash games running within the site ( if it does win at cash games that is) you would think they would have some specific software in place to detect bots in use to clear them out the game whether this bot 771107 is infact an in house bot or a players bot surely it neeeds to be kicked from the games to prevent stories like this coming out as it is only going to do harm to the skin/network if anything no ?

You need to read the thread more closely. "bot771107" is NOT a bot. Just because some kid on 2+2 says it is, how does that make it a fact?

I'm also a bit confused as to how, to use your example, "an in-house bot" would reduce the Overlay in a Tourney.....how would it do that? Who would pay for the (phantom/alleged) bots entry? The Site. So how does it reduce overlay?

Really, that Thread is as bad as it gets when it comes to obscuring the facts, & jumping to conclusions.

They have NOT admitted any such thing.

the only way it would reduce the overlay was if it was to cash

re read the thread (well posts that were not there when i read through yesterday)

    pretty obvious bot771107 isn't a bot

doesn't help though with all the customer service conversations that took place when they kept quoting the casino t&cs in which the CS rep would confirm that bots were playing without people realising they were quoting the casino T&C and not the poker

will be interesting to read the statement that is released from ipoker today/tomorrow though

The Statement is already on the Thread, it has been on there all day. It specifically denies the allegations.

I'm not here to defend them, I don't give a hoot about them tbh, Sky Poker is what matters to me, but it's so wrong when thread titles, & Posts, make such allegations without a shred of tangible evidence, then, when proven wrong, nobody apologises or withdraws the suggestions.

Imagine the boot is on the other foot, for a moment.

A Poker Site starts a thread & says "delaney is an out & out cheat". You'd not be happy, I fancy, & you'd sue them, or seek a retraction.....

I think we need to try & be fair, in all things.

I loathe i-Poker, & with good reason, but let's fight fair.

i think they looked at the wrong T&C's....but there are almost certainly bot rings on ipoker
  • edited October 2011
just another attempt by the "poker is rigged" brigade to justify their paranoia and embelishing facts so they suit their means....

    they added 2+2 and got 10 :)

fwiw i couldnt care less if they did use bots......because they just dont work

yeah my bad, perhaps a mod can lock this thread up,

fwiw i happened to see the thread today whilst eating a sandwich, didnt read it all page 4 page, skimmed thru a bunch of it...was stunned with what i initially saw especially with the convo with the customer support person, thought it would make a good talking point on sky

    anyway....

    sorry for the sensationalist thread

There are much better reasons not to play on ipoker IMO.  The original thread on that forum has more levels than Super Mario Bros.

There are bots on william hill its one of the sites supported by a bot known as the skanky bot. These are obviously players though rather than in house bots.
