Sky Poker Maintenance Changes/Adobe Flash & Air Updates

edited October 2011 in Poker Chat
Hi Everyone,

We've released some changes to Sky Poker today during our site maintenance window.

The majority of the changes made were behind the scenes, expanding our ability to keep you up-to date with what's going on through messages sent directly to the tables - you'll notice these being used over the next few days.

One change which you will be able to notice and benefit from immediately is the ability to launch multiple tournament lobby pop-ups. We've put a limit of 10 being opened simultaneously for now, it could be increased but we see this as sufficient for a starting point.

N.B. Multiple pop ups are only available in the download client, web client users will still be restricted to 1 tournament pop up as previously. This is due to some compatibility issues with certain browsers, we'll continue to investigate a workaround for this.

Also as some of you may have noticed Adobe has released a major upgrade of both their Flash Player and Air Software in the last 24 hours.

Web users will likely be asked to update to Version 11 of Flash Player shortly, download users will be asked to update to Adobe Air Version 3.

Sky Poker has been tested fully internally for compatibility with these new versions and no issues have been identified, however if you do experience any problems then please contact customer care as per normal for assistance.

Best wishes

Adam

Nearly all of the above will be done, plus sync breaks

Stretchy tables are a high priority although challenging with the current version of flash that the poker tables are built in - we are in the process of working out the best longterm solution for delivering this, rather than a short/medium term fix
Sit out next BB/Notes/Custom avatar/Deals all hinge on the above route we take hence we haven't progressed these yet but like all 3
Tournament tickets/tokens etc are an independent piece of work which we haven't spec'd out at this stage
Merchandise store is not currently high on the list, we know you would all love to spend your points on this but there's a number of logistical complications why we haven't progressed this unfortunately.
Late reg, sync breaks and H4H will all be done, sync is the easiest of the three and will be delivered 1st.
Late Reg and H4H have a dependency on the route taken towards resizable tables.

We have a lot to deliver in the next 12 months, there's 2 major behind the scenes developments which need to take place first, 1 which we are working on to deliver in the next 2-3 months and the other in 3-4 months. Whilst this wont be immediately obvious to you all, it will enable us to deliver all the nice things listed above (and a lot more) much quicker.

We will also be delivering small and regular enhancements in parallel to the above.

Sorry i cant go into too much detail or provide eta dates at this stage, there's unfortunately too many unknowns at this moment in time to commit to this - but i can say our goal is that in the next 6-8 months Sky Poker will have improved more than it has in the last 2-3 years. Which the many of you who have been here since those days will know is a lot!

    Best Wishes

I wish I managed to have that chat with you after our SnG at DTD now!  Oh, the suspense is killing me (slight exaggeration).

I do like that you are posting on the forum to let us players know what some of the changes introduced with the new update are.  ALL changes would be better, but it's a start. :-)

Once the re-sizing of the tables and stuff is done, will there still be an option to use mini view like it is now? Or will that be removed?

Great to see the info we get on here about where the site is going. Interesting developments. My only worry is about late registration for tourneys. Its fine in rebuy tourneys but in single buy-in MTT's it doesn't seem right to me. Will look forward to seeing how the changes enhance/detract from the poker experience.

    +1

Its not really a case of we want everything straight away, its just to know briefly what is being processed with a rough time frame and that our suggestions are not falling on deaf ears.

    Look forward to it.

Don't know whether its just a one off blip or due to the Adobe Air update, but I had a box pop-up saying Network Error. My internet was still on yet it stayed off for about 5 mins. I had to close Sky Poker (Download Version)and then re-load it. Missed a good few hands in the £2,000 Bounty Hunter. Hope it is a one off. Best wishes. Shaun the Villa Fan in Bham
