    Trust the maths . . .

The odds on the opponents hand winning were:

2 (he could hold one of two sixes) + 2 (one of two eights) + 10/2 (the remainder of the diamonds, if you assume he had two in the hole) = 9/46, or a little over 4-1 ??

I don't comment on other people's playing decisions as I'm certainly not qualified to do so (not the greatest player in the world myself, and can't manage to beat the 20% HE on the penny DYMs), and it's not my intention to sound critical. But purely on the numbers I would think that risking going out of the game, and shoving when the opponent has a c4-1 chance of a better hand is flying a kite. Bearing in mind he'd called pre and post flop (to the tune of 17 BBs), unless he was a complete maniac it's odds on he'd have something, or something that would turn into something, and so the consideration wouldn't be simply a case of what the random probabilities are?  If you knew what the odds were and it was a bluff that got called, then it's just a case of a bluff that got called. It happens - you can't fool all of the people all of the time . . .

Having said all of that, this is Area 51, and so it could simply be a case of the dodgy RNG that Sky use turning you over?

    Good cards in the future.

there are alot of (kind words) people out there that dont know what their hands are worth, dont see past their A and any 2 cards suited that play on here..  the worst bit is, they get lucky with bad play and think they are good at poker. yes you can get unlucky or lucky. but these ppl seem to hit alot

You may find this helpful . . .

There are 1,326 combinations of hole cards that a player can receive - 78 of these are pocket pairs. Therefore 1,248 of these (1,326 minus 78) are unpaired, and 25% of these, 312, will be suited. Putting these two facts together, it means that 390/1,326 (just a smidgeon under 30% of the hole cards dealt out) will be either a pair or suited. If you assume that someone has suited cards in the hole, with two suited cards on the board it's fairly easy to work out the odds that they will hit their flush at any point.

Anyway . . . "Flush Muppet", I like it. I've been a flush muppet at times and got lucky on the turn or the river and made my flush having played through a hand where I've considered that the odds/risk of not hitting my fifth suited card justified it.

    Good cards.

Yes, I agree - a great many players at the bottom end don't consider what opponents left in might have in the hole, and many of those that do don't know how to use their assumption to calculate the odds of winning/losing.

Do you remember that game we had as kids called Mastermind - where you had to work out what coloured pegs, and their order, that were behind the screen based on the info you were given? You had ten attempts to get it right. Everyone looking to improve their game should get one - I'm sure there are billions available on Ebay.

He prob should of shoved the turn or even flop but to build a pot on ace high is ridiculous considering his call on flop so if you believe your ahead take him to showdown and turn em over!! You bet how you did to get him to fold but he hit which will happen alot of the time every single player chases flushes maybe not in this way as yes you did price him out on turn but if he shoves you would have to fold and be left with a depleted stack both made mistakes in hand just way too standard for area 51
