Sky Poker Forums is upgrading its look! Stay tuned for the big reveal!
A longish read but I would really like some opinions.
At the start of September I referred a friend to join Sky Poker, he had an winning streak and would have cashed out with his £50 if it wasn't for the bonus we would both be recieving (I was going to give him part of my share also). He phoned customer care and asked whther we would recieve the bonus soon after earning the points, or at the end of his first month, they told us a few days after he has earnt them.
So he steadily lost at a slow rate while grinding out poker points until reaching 325 thinking that was the required ammount. A few days later I went on live chat to a customer care rep giving him both of our aliases and asked why we had not recieved our money, he replied "your friend only have 325 poker points, the required total is 375". My friend is really hating poker now after coming down from an initial run good and realising he's not a very good player, he grinds out the last 50 points needed while losing a total of £20.
About 10 days later, neither of us have received a payment so once again I go on live chat to customer care asking why neither of us have received a bonus, the reply was "He had an existing account with Skybet for the fantasy football league in 2010 so he was not actually referred by you" I relentlessly tried arguing the fact that he was not a "customer" (Definition being someone who pays for goods and/or services) with Sky and therefore I had indeed referred him, it was to no avail. I also asked why we had not been warned any of the other times we had queried them and there was no reply.
Here are my questions:
Here is a quote from the Ts and Cs of the "Refer a friend" promotion, "All of the friends which you refer must be new customers to Sky Betting & Gaming" Now, my friend was NOT a customer so why have we been denied?
We had contacted customer care twice during the month, with queries where they had looked at our accounts and said all he needed was to earn more points. Why did they not warn us? I phoned up for a fourth time today and he straight away noticed that the accounts weren't directly linked, are customer care really this inconsistent?
And third, when he recieved my referring email why was there no warning to us that he had already made an account?
So do you think it's fair that we have both been denied our bonus?
EDIT: Is there anyone above customer care that I can plead to?

Lots of bonuses are promised for sky poker, Vegas, Bingo & sky bet even for existing customers but I gave up trying in the end,
Even if you enter the Sky Super Six for fun or belonged to a betting site taken over by sky you are excluded from a host of offers.
I just hope you go deep in a tournament soon and the bad taste goes away!
I'm determined not to give up on this.
Pretty neglectful by CC there...
send them an e-mail rather than post it on the forum
posting on the forum wont achieve anything, it doesnt matter what we think is fair or isnt fair
hope you get it resolved soon though, gl
Are there any contacts above customer care you know of? Thanks, I guess i've only posted this on the forum to find out if I have a chance arguing my way to the bonus.
Tell customer care you want the decision looked at again because you think you were misled. They might not give you the bonus but they might owe you an apology if they misinformed you.
send them an e-mail if you are not getting any joy from live chat
Greg is quite correct in what he says. If you don't get any joy from CC then maybe try sending a PM to Sky Dave and ask him if he can get someone to review the situation for you. I kind of doubt they will change their decision but it never hurts to ask.

I've closed this thread down as it has now run its course.
