10 seats....6 seats

edited October 2011 in Poker Chat
I dont know whether this has ever been brought up before, but why so few 10 seaters on this site. ou dont even have the option to sit in a 10 seat DYM...why so!!

Does no-body want to see more of the games in 10 seater formats?

I find these games more attractive, you get more play for your money?

Regards

Most people have learnt poker on Sky and Sky has always been 6 handed therefor thats all that most people know. They are not really interested in 10 handed

Not sure you do get more play for your money as you get dealt less hands usually.

    This.

& your ranges in most positions are/should be so much tighter.

There's deffo more skill in shorter handed games, and this favours the better players.

I think he meant if your a nit like Tikay, it will take twice as long for your stack to reduce so you get more playing time, especially as your only paying blinds 2 times in 10 and not 2 in 6!

    Hi Kocklaw.
I for one, love the 10 handed format and this type of format is pretty normal in casino MTT's too.

I have often asked the same question to players whilst playing online and the answere is usually pretty much the same.........

The format is too slow, they get bored, they want a faster structure. All these remarks always baffle me because, they will happily play the same format live with even longer blind levels.

So maybe they just want to get to the prize quicker online and the prize is just not big enough in the 10 seaters online to generate enough interest and make it worth their while.

So I suppose the be all and end all is: Nobody wants to sit around and play for 4-5 hours online just to try and make a min cash.......Shame Really........I love em'

Orfordable 10 Seater Challenge on Friday - look out for my post in the lobby + added prizes.

TBF with 10 seaters if your card dead it can be quite a boring adventure, sitting at a computer screen in between hands that your not involved in, there is a lot of ''inactivity'' At least live their is more to relieve the boredom during hands (no jokes please lol) and there are other players to talk to and pretty ladies to eye up lol, but at home one your own it sometimes bores the pants off me, however i wouldnt say no to one maybe on a saturday with 100+ players, no work to get up to the next day and a few beers to boot and all that!

    Very true Loony.
The live structure does hava a certain appeal that seams to be missing sitting at home on the pc. This is why we probaly prefer the much faster structure online.

    Turbo 10 Seater MTT anyone?

Because the overwhelming majority of our players tell us they much prefer 6 handed to 10 handed. It's that simple, really. Sadly, it's not possible to be all things to all men. And women, of course.

    1)  6Max is the much more popular format on SkyPoker.

    2)  10 Handed SnGs only show up on the first page of the SnG lobby if there are already 5 or 6 people registered.  (the default filter is to sort by places remaining, with the fewest at the top).  As a result, the average recreational player will not see these and plump for something more likely to start sooner.  A Rec just wants to get going as soon as possible (can't blame them) and will understandably not go hunting for a specific format.  Even Regs are much more likely to go for a table they can see should fill soon.

If you want to get the ten handed game going (of which I would support you, love both 6max and ten handed) I suggesting some posting in the forum to try to generate some interest.  Might work, might not.  Always keep an eye out there though as there are plenty of forum SnGs arranged which are almost always ten handed.

Yes you get more play because you see more hands per orbit, the blind levels should reflect this.

If the option where more readily availible am sure you'd see the shift from 6 seater from 10 seater. I think both options should be avaible in all formats.

I love both styles but I dont like not having the choice, I wonder is this a marketing ploy to get mor games logged in and finished hence more fees????

It maybe the popular choice at the minute but that is what is being driven, on the tv and in the selections. It not just live that has more seats per table it nearly all other online companies too. It a shame I have to play "away" to find these tournaments online.

    Love
