Is this good play?

In a recent cash game I thought I had a good read on my opponent and judging on how the previous hands had played out I was pretty certain that he had total air and my AK was good.  Even so, I'm not sure that what I did on the river wasn't incredibly stupid.  I would like to hear your thoughts on this.

raising the river is a losing play imo. You should assume your average player will only call your reraise with a pair or better. If he has a missed draw or a pure bluff then you have the best hand anyway, no need to bluff when you have the best hand.

I think you should bet the flop because that flop will be unlikely to have hit the other player. If he calls then you can shut down and check fold.

think your read or him was spot on, good job really because you will lose a lot more than you win if you keep that up. a bet on the flop would have been better, ok you probably not won as much, but you'd have took away any uncertainty you may have had
