with tournies go for the deepstacks £2.20 - 5000 chips and 12 mins blind so plenty off play there is also a £1.10 deepstack at 7.45pm

If your losing money on the cash tables then DYM's (Double Your Money) are worth giving a go.

If you sit tight in these, they can be a good way of building your bankroll back up and then if you are making a steady profit, just treat yourself once a week to a Deepstack Tournament.

If your losing on the small buy in cash tables, then you are most likely playing too many hands and seeing too many flops.

Tighten up a bit and fold most hands and wait for premium hands such as AA, KK, QQ, AKs.

Also, if you can get into a pot cheap enough then look to play hands like pocket pairs from 88-JJ, but don't get attached to them, we want to be hitting a set (3 of a kind) with these types of hands, so be prepared to fold if you don't hit big.

I'm sure other peeps will be along to offer more useful advice too - best of luck.

Firstly you are LOSING not LOOSING. :)

Advice I would give is play as many freerolls as you can with points you have to get more expeiance plus maybe win a bit of cash but for me longterm it has to be giving NL4 a real crack and building a bankroll that allows you to then take bits out to play in MTT's like the above mentioned deepstacks at 7.15 and 7.45pm. Another option however is to try DYM's and slowly build through the levels, if you begin with the 30p ones you could start off with as little as £10 and be very comfortable.

I totally agree with Pokertrev.  If you're new with a small BR, DYM's are def the way to increase it.  They range from 30p, 60p,1.15p  right up to £220!  There is a knack to them tho & and they can become repetitive/boring after a while. Have a look at Johnconnors ABC to DYM's guide and after you have built up your BR then think about cash.  I'm also fairly new (5/6 months) and i recognised early doors there is an "apprenticeship" to served before I commited any of my money to the cash tables! Some might disagree but thats how I see it.  Also, there are a few threads on cash in the clinic & also diaries (theDon 90 e.g.) where many of the winning players contribute on strategy/bankroll/buy-in advice/etc.  It's gold dust!

Although most of what dudeskin says is EXCELLENT advice , dont play the 30p dym's as the rake makes it near impossible to make any worthwhile money at all xx

                                                                              ..........  +1  ..........

Without discipline, this can be a long and painful experience so please understand that you must have good brm (bank roll management), eg. don't enter a £3-30 mtt if you only have £10 in your account.
The biggest piece of advice any decent poker player quickly needs to grasp is 'position is key'.........ie; try and wait until you are last to act therefore, you can make informed decisions and hence be in control as whether you want to commit your stack to the pot (generally if you have position, you can win big pots but only lose small ones).
Take advantage of freerolls and enter as many competitions as you wish/can to win free seats into mtt's......gd luck and take heed of all the excellent advice people freely offer to you on the forums.....plenty of blogs have been written and for you to avoid some of the pitfalls you undoubtedly will fall into as you gain experience.

Rake is bad but the players there are awful so most times when I used to play you could just play 1 or even zero hands and still cash so should imo be getting more than the required percentage to make money.

    Not a chance dude mate

    eg; Play 100 = £25 + £5 rake Total £30

    Win % (70% fair ?? )

    70 x £0.50 = £35

Now this is assuming 70% can be reached ,due to players ability and variance and bad players gettin vvl vs say ure AA at late levels.

This is why i advise and stand by the fact that its vv difficult to make decent money at these low level dym's.

I'd agree you can't make decent money there, but you can learn some basics for little risk.

I started with a £5 deposit having never played before and learnt some basics playing 30p DYM's and freerolls, stepping up as I won a bit.

Progress was slow, and I probably only played 5 dym's a week when I started, but I've built a roll of over £200 starting from there without ever busting the original £5.

Above all, I've had a bit of fun doing it.

not all low stakes players are awful.iv played in quite a few 30p + games where the play is very good and strong indeed.dont forget for some people it might be their last 30p and they will play their best to keep holding on to it.iv had many a game that lasts more than 45 minutes so for you to say u only need play 1 or 2 hands is complete nonsense.

    Hey mate.

I am an expert at building rolls from nothing. I have deposited £5 2x before and built my roll up. to over £100 before either withdrawing it or rouletting it away.

I'm now on another good run deposited £5er a week ago and upto £32.62

I've done this by using BANKROLL MANAGEMENT.

You have to play games which u can afford to lose. If u get aces cracked by 72o then if it tilts you, your playing at too high a level.

The games i play atm are £1.05 Heads-Up £1.15 DYM, 10 handed 60p BH or the £1.10 Regular SNG.

I also play the 22:15 £25gtd rebuy most nights and came 3rd last night.

So i would say stick to what your comfortable at and most of all enjoy poker :)
