Hi all,
Remember remember the 5th November.... for the fireworks!?? NO silly old noisy bangs making me jump out of my trackies...
NO... UKOPS 7 is happening tonight, the big £10,000 gtd tournament that I am very much looking forward to seeing unfold.
deets:
UKOPS Event 7 No limit hold'em
8pm
Buy- in £100 + £10
12 minute clock
start with 4000 chips
get involved now, if you havn't already..
Also this weekend, we see the return of the November 9, playing down to 2 on 5th, and returning for heads up on the 7th. So with this is mind..
FUN:
Who have you got your money on?
Sam Holden joked to me about having walk on music (or did he, maybe they will!) If you could walk out to the WSOP final table as part of the Nov 9 what would be your song choice!?
EDUCATIONAL:
The luck/skill debate is back. The larger the field (think WSOP) ... the more luck you need?? Therefore is making the final table of a large tournament far more down to luck than skill?
See you all later, GL for tonight, can't wait to see who wins!

Gl with the show and im sure the UKOPS will be a great success 2nite as it has been all week
I understand there will also be a "bird off" tonight. That's a Heads Up Competition between Anna & I doing bird impressions.
Anna will be impersonating raptors, (she's a one-trick pony) & I will be doing members of the Corvid family - rooks, ravens, crows, magpies, jackdaws etc.
Maybe nxt year
have a good show

Just like to piggy back onto this thread to say good luck to Eoghan O'Dea on final table WSOP main event, kicking off tonight. Went to school with Eoghan and we were doubles partners on school tennis team. Coincidentally, my mom used to go out with his dad way way back when.
GL to all those in tonight's UKOPS, I'm up tomorrow night... thought main event was tonight until I logged on yesterday... unsure what I'll do for Monday morning if I go deep!
If you could take a while to discuss the different approach you think should be adopted for tomorrow's event (starting stack 8000 chips - 15 min blinds). I have some ideas I'm toying with to slightly (not greatly) modify my normal MTT style in light of the depth of chips and slower blind structure but a discussion on it would be good to elucidate the various considerations and provide different perspectives.
My entrance music would have to be Rolling Stones: Can't You Hear Me Knocking.
Hi anna and tikay looking forward to the show tonight, hoping im still in by the time the programme starts tho as im one of the lucky satelite binkmeisters i dont hold too much hope, im just praying i dont have that yoyo geezer binkmeister general at my table
walk in music has to be Joe Esposito "You're the best around" (from end of karate kid) good motivational tune
I hope O' Dea and Holden can do well but my moneys on the mighty Ben lamb who proves the final question about luck in big tourneys, nobody is that lucky he must just be that good
Have a good show tonight folks!
I am out taking a couple kidz to a bonfire. I know most people take wood but hey ho.
If anyone finds any hedgehogs in their bonfires tonight, remember, its 10 mins for meduim rare and 18 mins for well done.
Good luck to all playing the UKOPS tonight and perhaps the Team cash thread might get a mention on the show?
Stazko 40 million, Holden 12 million chips with everything in between. In 2006 Jamie Gold had 25 million starting final table, with 4 players below 7 million chips and the short stack on 2.6 million. 2 double ups and Holden would be leader, to put it another way.
It will be interesting anyway!
i was glued to it, i bow to you sir tikay.
if i had walk on music it would have to be - i should be so lucky, lucky-lucky-lucky
Making the final table of any large field event requires some lucky breaks along the way.
Winning any large field event can be down to luck.
Winning regularly in large field tournaments cannot be purely down to luck (Phil12uk excepted), especailly if considered over a period of years. Whilst luck plays a part in any tournament it is greatly out-weighed by skill.
I've won one or two mtts over the years and had some good breaks in all of them but I like to think skill played a bigger part.
Well your entrance Music Anna ; "Diamonds are forever" Shirley Bassey Tikay ; "When I'm 64" Beatles. Orford ; Winner takes it all Orford takes the fall. Abba
Have a great show as always and give TK a Hug from me after the Show and make an old man happy. Hugs Annie xxx
Loved watching Tikays life story last night, and again tonight on the replay. I hope all the others will be half as interesting as that.
wow, thanks folks for your input for our show tonight
much appreciated
keep em coming!
xx
ha ha thanks Annie, I always give tea cakes a hug after the show, but today I am gonna give an extra special one
A xx
have a good show
Question for Tikay : I know you abhor open limping but isn't it ok with a small pocket pair early on. You don't want to call a 3-bet but a raise is still cheap enough to set-mine?
Skill vs luck : Skill will win in the end but luck is abstract and it's very possible some have more than others.
Song for November 9 : Queen's "Don't stop me now".
Still in UKOPS 7! Woo-hoo!
