Bit of a nasty spot you have got yourself in there bit hard to here with out any reads on oppo i think you can count out a 3 here for def ace 4 of spades is one option he might have but my thoughts are moving towards an over pair to the board im probably making a crying call here i would have to know...

My thinking was it's hard for them to hit that board and any cbet should fold out Ax's which ar beating me and also charges FD's, fwiw I doubt I'd barrel at all at this level unless I had some sort of draw going for me, maybe an Ace turn.

Also if I check behind am I not just waving the white flag for them to bet some silly amount on turn that I have to fold to with K high ?

if cbet works enough go for it. But I would expect to get called a lot flop  doesnt exactly smash your raising range and fish like to call with overs

Yes if you check back you are raising the white flag on some turns, but you cant win every pot or cbet 100% usually. If they are bad enough at 8NL that you can then knock yourself out

Fold, made his hand @ turn, hoped you'd bet.  Mostly anywho.

+1, at a higher level this could easily be an induced bluff, but at NL8 you're behind more often than not.
