Super aggro table. Do we adapt our play, or is this standard results regardless?

edited November 2011 in The Poker Clinic
Played awful table at 50/£1 this evening.  My first trip out following a week detox.

Prior to cash, played £50 FO DS.  66 runners.  Made it to last 3 somehow, card dead all night, just picking up pots as and when.  3 handed, find A's min it on button, BB jams with equal stack I call.  He shows K10o. Flop comes 692r, I sigh a relief  turn K river 10.  The run bad continues..............

Anywho, the dry run has ended, decent cash.  Go for a beer to un-steam, go play cash.

Sit with a buy in.  Two Maniacs at table who i've seen frequently.  They play silly stakes roulette, either losing a bundle or making a bundle.  There is no buy in cap @ 50/£1 at this casino.  They've obv had a good night at roulette, sitting around 500bbs deep.  I buy in for a 100bbs.

They are just straddling and restraddling each pot ridicoulously.  I'm praying for a hand.

Crazy guy makes it £5 blind, his friend makes it £15.  Truly blind, as in bet before hands are dealt  I find AK, dont even need to think and shove,  Called by AJ.  Guy hits flush

Same crazy straddles, find AK Jam again..  Called by 8's, miss

Again same straddles, AK, called by 2's........................ brick.

After 3 BI's do we adapt?  Do we give up.  Or just keep up the pressure?  We are going to get called super wide,  everything from 75o to Q8.

With the constand straddling, which is also enticing others to blind call the straddle or re straddle, jamming AK here is an utter must right???  Or do we play some post flop poker?

Have to say I'm not a call to hit kind of player, especially in these spots.  I'll take the dead money or be called in a spot by worse.  But tbh A10 and KQ...and probably worse is in my 100BB jamming range given circumstance.  Some guy called my 120BB shove blind for goodness sake.  Only pot I thankfully won.

Hate poker at the minute :p

buy in to cover them you are leaving massive value behind and also if you are 500 deep you can play some postflop poker where your edge is much bigger.  100BB deep with 20BB going in blind is going to play really shallow. Cant see how you can do anything jut jam AK in these spots

Yeah I was just majorly tilted after tourney exit (standard for me just now, utterly) and missing spins, in addition to rough quarter.

Been running so bad I just didnt feel like sitting super deep.  Sitting with 100bbs was deep enough just now.  Probably defeatist mentality.

Just like getting feedback after a rough night :p

Prefer to jam high pairs than AK tbh in this situation, just wait around.
I'll be playing flop with AK v manaics

yea i think we have to be buying in here deeper tbh. Clearly with the straddles we need to be deeper. Expessially when we account two maniacs in the frame.

Yeah I think you're all right.

Not in habit of walking round with 1000BB's however :p

Isn't this a case of players chosing to raise the stakes to the game that they want to play. For example if they wanted to play £5/£10 but there was only a 50/£1 table open then they make it a higher stakes table by sitting super deep and straddle to £15 like this every hand.

If this is the case then sitting with £100 means that you effectivly have 6.333 big blinds. Obviously if you pick up AK in this situation you have to get it all in pre as you are only behind to aces and kings.

But as has been said before you need to sit with as much cash as them. Consider £1000 even but if that is beyond your bankroll then you need to find a more sensible table.
