    Hi Cormach,
I'd be very interested. Flashflush asked about something similar, might be worth giving him a bell.

Thanks for the message on this Cormach!

Yes I have been trying to get involved in these APAT events, but so far all dates have been bad for me, this is the next event I can make, so decided to try and get some names on here. I did actually write a list of who wanted to go and somehow try and pick a team or 2 from the list...

Thanks Flashflush, We will see how many players respond and somehow pick a team. Tikay will also spread the word. We must make sure everyone is an Apat member.

OK guys and Gals.. lets start getting some names together to who would be interested in this. Hopefully if possible Tikay can make sure we get a space. Iv posted on their forums to say we are interested.

Not sure how we would pick players? Maybe best results or just who spends alot of time on the forums? .. ideally we could have 2 teams.

Put my name in the hat. What if we set a deadline date for players to put their names down on this thread.Say 30/11/09. From the list let Sky Poker name the captain. Then the captain picks the final ten with possibly two extra standby players incase some player can't make it.

    Hi Guys,

I look after the Southern Division for APAT and am organising the APAT team for this event.

Just so that there is no confusion, there is no way that you will get two teams into this event.  Last year we had twenty teams of ten players and still couldn't fit in all those that wanted to enter a team.

Due to the location this year, this has been reduced to 16 team (160 players) and the demand seems to be even greater from forums wishing to enter a team.  It's nice to be in demand !!!!!!!

I see that your interest in entering a team has been posted by a few people on the thread on APAT, good luck with getting a team together and hopefully look forward to seeing a few of you at the tables in Manchester this January.

If you have any questions in the meantime, feel free to message me.

I have requested Sky Poker to have a team in this tourney. I am an Apat member. My Apat name is frankieb. Just to let you know FlashFlush, incase it causes some confusion.

So ten players it is then (1 team). Thanks for the reply Leigh.

This may sound obvious. But how about a tournament to select the team? This will make sure only those that can go take part. Stops any favouritism or subjective choices in team selection. I am sure Sky would sort out this, knowing they would have a bunch of promoters going up to Manchester, to spread the good gospel of Sky Poker to the masses.

As you know, we are just in the process of compiling interest and will give people a few weeks to register their interest.  Then comes the tricky job of selecting the succesful teams.  It's hard to say how this will be achieved as it's not really a black and white decision process. Some teams that played last year, like the reigning champs Bristol and South West Poker Meetup, are guaranteed a team, others will be discussed when the interest is registered.

I can't confirm when we will release the final team lists, but keep an eye on the forum for updates and I will try and post on here if further news appears.

I've not played one of the APAT Team Championships, so if you find yourself short a person (which I highly doubt!), put me into the mix :)

Well I dont mind stepping up as captain, I came up with the idea so thats fine by me if you all want me to.

I think we should nominate a captain and that person should make the selection. Think it should be based on ability as well as contribution to the forums. Will be tough decision who ever becomes captain, but we need to get a place first!!

i am happy for you to be captain, if you want to do it :) makes no difference to me don't know what everyone else thinks flash for captain?

well you got my vote flash!

    what costs are involved?
  • edited October 2009
Costs for this tournament are £50 for the buy in plus travel and accommodation, it's the same casino as the next leg of the SPT for those planning things like that.

I agree with whoever suggested the tournament to qualify, and the top 10 finishers qualify for the team. Either that or a random draw where we get a list of whoever wants to play, assign them a random number and then get someone off-forum to pick 10 numbers (or use random.org lol)

personally dont like the tourney idea... only unless it was a series of tournaments... too much luck involved in poker to have the team selected on the outcome of 1 game
