Manchester traffic

edited November 2009 in The Sky Poker Tour
I was up in Deansgate last night and the city traffic was an absolute 'mare due to them digging up a large length of that road. Also there is a Manchester City home game on the 7th (but not Utd) ....
I guess not everyone's route will take in those areas but just saying incase any of you want to factor it in to your journey planning if you're travelling Sat morning.

I'm visiting the casino for a few hours (just to meet you folks!) and aim to be there for 12 all being well :)

I'm going up Friday afternoon... taking a half day from work. Planning to leave at 2pm (from swindon) it takes apparently 3-3.5 hours, but with us going to hit rush hour traffic we are expecting around 4.5 hours, giving us time to settle down, get something to eat and then play the 9pm Friday night tourney

You can no longer go straight up Deansgate as they are working on it to pedestraianise part of it. If you are coming from the South you would need to go on the ring road (clockwise direction would be far the better option here).

Iv just looked on google maps and its kept me on the motorway. From the M6 its saying to join the M62 and from there join the M602 .... This takes you around Deanscourt and not into all the road works. Its actually apparently faster than going the 'Direct route' I imagine there is a lot of 30MPH zones thats why. After leaving the M602 its apparently only around 3.5Miles.
