Wish I had 1p for every time I've staggered into Sky Vegas after being dumped out of a tourney and proceeded to play 10 hands Jacks or Better into the wee small hours.  I'd probably have, oooh, about 9p now...lol.

Actually, I agree with you both on this and voted 'definately'.  I do tend to head for the Jacks or Better instant win game in frustration more than anything.  Luckily, I seem to win more often than not, but the times I don't, I feel ten times worse, not surprisingly.

i do exactly the same, every time i get a bad beat on the poker i head straight to vegas and hit the blackjack tables trying to get my money back, the other day i stuck my last £17 on 1 hand of blackjack, i was so gutted after losing at poker and i couldnt believe my luck when i got pontoon!! dealer has a 10 and never guess what he turns over an ace and its a "push" no suprise next hand i got 15 and lost.

yesterday i went in and put £14 on and yet again 1st hand i get blackjack, this gives you the greatest buzz and you think your outer there and back to the poker only for dealer to once again get same hand and once again i lose next hand!!

i always say i will never go back there and unless there is an "exclude yourself from vegas" option i will probably end up leaving skybet and pack in poker for good, i am only a steady guy with a steady income and unfortunately i cant afford to lose money on vegas, i just hope that maybe they can look at this idea.

Sounds exactly like me!  I have a decent enough job, but just an average wage.  I can't afford to deposit more than £5 a time in here.  Sounds a bit sad I know, but I usually build it up slowly to around £25 - £30 only to lose most of it on the Jacks or better trying to chase losses.  Most of the time I have the discipline to get out when I'm up, it's the times I don't that sicken me.  Still, it's my own fault, I suppose.  I'll have to be more strong-willed!

I would have thought that under the 'responsible gambling' scenario we should have the option. I know Sky as a business are focused on making money, and that's fine, but the option to abstain should be there. Personally I never touch anything but poker, but I do understand the potential problem for some folk.

I think Sky need to look at this seriously. They might just end up losing good poker customers, which defeats their object of making more money.

yes please sky listen to your customers

They had a responsible gambling thread a week or so ago,

Is it a case of 'pot' and 'kettle'?

They ought to take away any temptation and that includes the annoying blackjack icon on the corner of the table, should you request it.

That's a good point.  The only reason those links are there is to lure you into spending more money, faster.  It's way too easy to one-click your way to bankroll oblivion when you've just spent two hours trying, and failing, to cash in an MTT, or whatever.

If people want the instant win and casino games that's fair enough, but they know where they are.  Sky don't need to push them on the poker tables.

    hey guys,

thanks for all the ideas and input on this thread. as i'm sure you are aware at Sky we take responsible gambling very seriously. we did quite a lot the other week for 'responsible gambling day' and we always love to hear your ideas to help us improve.

i'll pass this thread on to Andrew (who is our head of responsible gambling at Sky betting and Gaming).

Thanks, Rich.  Not getting at Sky as such, but think the point about links to casino games on the poker tables is a valid one.

Thanks to Rich for flagging this up to me.

I'm actually really pleased to see that the idea of being able to exclude from certain products has arisen. It's something we have been looking at for a while and are very keen to do, I really want to emphasise that point; we do want to get this in place and for very good reason.

We want everyone to be able to have control over what they do and don't spend their money on at Sky. If that means some of you just want to play poker, well, we'd rather have that than nothing at all. It's got to be about fun and choice for our customers at the end of the day. Equally, we have customers who just want to use Sky Bet, Sky Bingo or Sky Vegas or some combination of our services. As Rich points out, we take responsible gambling very seriously and it's a two-way street; things we can do and things you can do.

If I am honest though, this is a challenging one for us. It should be simple and appears so on the surface, but there are definite legal complexities in getting this right. Some sites offer something similar already, but from what i have seen it hasnt always been done well and has had implications for them and for their customers.

As with most developments, there is no value in me telling you when we will get this in place such is the moveable nature of even our best-intended efforts, but we have been working on it a while. We have to get the plans right, we have to make sure that the solution we build does the job we all - including you all - want it to do.

I'll keep you posted as we progress.

    Cheers
    Andrew

i asked about this on another post and the ancer was  no  you have to have all of them or none of them which is out of order  ....you should be able to choose.......
  • edited November 2009
    yep defo great idea
  • edited November 2009
i also got the answer of all or none a few months ago over the phone as i was worried like many others about the lure of 10 hand jacks but pleased to see we are being listened to as even though i've had some decent wins a few times i still dont want the temptation due to how addictive it gets.
will be glad to be away from it and just worry about improving my poker game.

why?, cus people get addicted to vegas and bingo?, i suppose it should be an option, i think sky are just trying to be convinient.

sky dont want to create addicts and nobody wants to become addicted but it happens when the option isn't there

To be honest, youhave really not had a true reflection on customer sensus. I think you could probably get a better overall opinion you would have to go thru the email. I voted defo by the way.

I also would appreciate it very much if the Sky Poker channel itself was free to all members.

Selfishly because my sky has been cut off (boo hoo) and i miss that channel terribly.

And of course morally because i still give Sky Poker my money so why shouldn't i be entitled to watch it.

I POSTED THIS EARLIER ON GPC SAYS IT ALL REALLY.......................

I am improving at these Freeroll tournys and did quite well yesterday in a couple of them. They are all i have played lately as i can't charge up my bankroll at the moment and had a balance of zero.

To my delight and amazement i looked at my balance later on and it was at 13p. First thoughts were 'i cant play anything with that i will try and slap it on red at the roulette wheel a couple of times to win enough for a 30p sit and go'.

So off i popped to Sky Vegas. When there i thought that putting it on a 2/1 line would lower the risk of betting twice. So the 1st row had all my lucky numbers on and i clicked on the 1p chips and put all 13p on row 1.

The wheel spun....the ball was released.....i waited with bated breath........and it landed on green number 0 lolololol..

Beat that for bad luck!!!!!!!   i still have a balance of zero lol

IF THE DIRECT LINK WASN'T THERE I MIGHT STILL HAVE 13P...DAMN YOU SKY LOL
