Omaha question...

Hve just got the boot from one of the scheduled Omaha tournies (the one you only have to cough up 10 poker points to enter). Shoved with quad fives (three in the hand) and got beat by flush to the King?? What's all that about?

only 2 holecards can be used, so you had a set not quads.

    You prob shouldnt play 555x

To expand on this slightly, you HAVE to use 2 of your hole cards.

eg if you have the ace of hearts and there are 4 hearts on the board you don't have a flush either, you would need 2 heart hole cards.

So because of that, starting with AAAA would be one of the worst hands, you have top pair but absolutely no chance to improve, and playing 2222 would just be suicide!

Omaha is a funny game. But you have to use exactly two of you hole cards. That also means if there are four hearts on the board and you hold the ace of hearts you don't have the flush unless you also have another heart.

So a hand like 5s5c5dKd looks very pretty but you have a pair of fives and only one other five to draw to and the second nut flush draw if diamonds come. Normally this hand would go in the muck pre-flop. Better off playing hands like 6789 where all four cards can work together to make a sraight or a flush. Double suited aces are good. But even the best hand in omaha (AAKK double suited for the record) is never that far ahead pre-flop, even against the very worst hands
