£3k BH - Call here?

edited December 2011 in The Poker Clinic
£3000 BH about 140 players left, top 40 paid.

I havent played with villain much, but they have played shed loads of mtt's on sky with a decent record.

Is this a snap call? Ace-wise, the only hand i fear is AQ and maybe A8, AK probably 3 bets pre (not sure tho).

I doubt a set of 8's will shove, could do though.

sry misread ur stack, thought u had more chips spashies

So i think a ship preflop is best here.

As played its a tougher fold than my first post, but... wow, it could be a fold still with the reads i hae on tallytink! lol

Greg mentioned shipping pre. Do people think thats better than raising? I had 21bb stack, so i guess it's close.

I dont think ya need to ship it pre with AJos , surely with 21bb's AJ is vulnerable if played this way long term as ure prob only gonna get action from hands that are ahead of ya.
With regards to the call or not , its tight imo but i reckon i do make the call.

Ship pre is also ok imo, esp as people apparently call ridiculously light.

Would any1 be betting smaller here? Maybe 400 on the flop?

Well i reckon long term shippin pre is a BIG loser , and yeah maybe a smallish bet on flop would be ok.

    Raise fold pre is ok

Can’t see how we b/f flop, just shove it in – if oppo has AQ then o well – think Ax calls that we beat

Can’t see how we get away from an ace high flop even with a smaller bet on flop

    as played

call, could easily be doing this with Ax - can't see how we b/f here :S

Maybe oppo thinks they can get you to fold a better ace :()

Not an easy one this :S

This was the first thing that crossed my mind looking at the hand.  Its pretty close IMO.  I think the bet size you make leaves you a lifeline, as you still have a workable stack if you do get called and decide to cut and run.

I likely shove with the limpage.  But I think the bet size you make pre is ok also.

Yeh esp when it went 3 way to the flop. If i totally miss i prob wont c-bet 3-way with that stack.

Once i c-bet i have to call tho right?

Yeah definately.  Thing is he has to play A10< the same way given what you have behind.

But this is likely why I'd shove pre, to avoid this spot.  I think 8's are def in his range, but it cant be helped.  Your priced in to outdraw flopped A8 btw :p  That would be a sick hand with the limp, call.

    I think pre is fine.

Flop is a snap call really I think.  Just too strong a hand.

Knowing villain tho its 888 but w/e

shoving pre sounds a little ott to me. People who suggest shove  are you shoving your entire opening rasnge here?

Flop I think checking back is the best option if he doesnt stack off with worse much
