this happens all the time to me where am i going wrong ?
its getting to the point where i am scared to raise a good starting hand eg ak 10 10 always getting called by say 75
and 95% of the time they either hit a flush or straight and when you look these players stats up 99% of the time there loosing players bit always hitting hands against me
maybe thats it there poor loosing players then that makes me worse :(

The issue is between your ears. Just look at the maths, and rather than focus on the probability of your big pair holding up, measure it with the other end of the ruler and look at the probability that they won't. I reckon the odds of him turning his pair into a set after the flop as being around 11-1; so yeah, you were unlucky, but I'm sure you've been on the end of worse?

In the example hand above, the oppo went all-in with top pair (or so he thought) while being the shortest stacked. How's that a joke call? Would you have done the same?

The 108o on the flop, when the money goes in, is 22% to win so basically the same as gettong AA v KK AI pre flop and losing, it sucks but does happen 1 time in 5.

thanks for the replies yes not to much between my ears right enough posted this straight after the hand was a bit peeved at the time
the joke call i was on about wasnt when he shoved all in i would have done exactly the same it was in calling my re raise fair enough in a cash hand but this was early in the tournament and he was hardly short stacked
i no these happen but it seams its not 1 in 5 for me but 4 in 5 at the moment
i watch sky all the time and hear tikay saying these are the players you want to be playing against (when u pull there stats up there loosing players ) but they always seem to get licky against me then 2 hands later loose all there chips to someone else with very poor play
once again i thank you for replying every bit of advice is gladly welcomed been playing poker just 2 years now so still a novice
not so sure on the badge though dudeskin lol

Hi flatfeet3, it does seem like they hit all the time but i think you will find that if you run this hand over and over again then you win a heck of alot of the time. I think its just that when your hand holds you dont remember it as much as the times when you get outdrawn. Its a sense of injustice and it sticks in your mind.

Keep getting it in good and you will be fine. Sometimes its good that these players outdraw you because it means they keep coming back. We want players like this long term, the positives of them playing like this far outweighs the negatives of being outdrawn on the odd occassion! Sounds like your running a little unlucky at the moment, if its getting to you, give it up for a week or so. If your coping with it, just keep going and forget the beats, it'll come around. GL

It SHOULD turn out 1 in 5 but due to variance you could easily lose 4 in 5.
