Should I have folded, and if so where?

edited January 2012 in The Poker Clinic
Think the call post flop was a poor one even though I went in ahead, should I have called such a large raise pre flop?

You should not hae folded this imo

You are not deep enough to just flat call preflop, your decision shoulda been preflop with the stack sizes and I would ship it all in!

Only fold pre in the rare situation that the BB is an absolute giant nitbag. And een then i usually cant click "all in" quickly enough!

As played, you must get all your money in on that flop imo.

    raise less pre

When he 3bets that big relative to effective stacks you should either shove or fold. I would nearly always shove without a specific read

As played flop is a snapcall, ul

Yeah 4x otb any time is pretty awful in MTT gameplay, I make it almost minraise at this stage.

After a 3bet gotta shove imo, would be nice though if you said what game it was e.g. BH/DYM etc as it changes it again.

Flop you get super lucky there's no overcards, if it came AQx you probz have to fold to shove.

Sorry dudeskin just to clarify it was a £3.30 DYM.

Prior to this I had been sticking fairly rigidly to John Connor's DYM strategy and found it was doing me well after going from a winning to a losing DYM player over the past month or two ...

After this hand I finished for the night because I felt I had lost my focus ....

Well in DYM make it 3x on the button imo.

    Fold to 3bet pre.

Obvz he's 3bet pre here w/A8 which is crazy in a DYM especially after a VERY strong 4x on the button but most times he's 3bet will be crushing you here.

You got your money in good, don't beat yourself up over it.

As others have said, I think the thing wrong is possibly the size of the intitial raise pre-flop.
