Sorry folks - Just another diary thread type thingy
Good Luck with your challenge m8.I agree with you that once you write about something in black and white on a forum or letter to somebody it deffo focuses the mind and stops you calling with s h ite just to prove he had it!!

Its the best way i can think to get motivated again to play poker
After being away for Chrtistmas and even hardly playing before that for the past 4 months I,ve found it hard to get back into it, but this challenge will hopefully change that .
Its going to be a points target for this month of 1000 which is nothing to some ppl , but when you haven,t got anywhere near 500 since August theres something wrong and although i play the odd game on other sites Sky is by far my favourite
There won,t be a Bankroll as such and no set games . In fact it will be a mixture of micro + low cash , satelites , DYM,s , HU and the odd STT also at PLO as well as NLHE
I have played them all before but don,t really know which is my best or worst. Perhaps i mind find this out although my favourite is MTT,s , bur due to the variants i cut down on them
Here goes
Day 1 38 pts
Playing the Take on Tikay for £2.20 which i,ve managed to miss most of my hands due to starting this thread but hopefullly it will be worth it
EDIT - A good start ( despite a slight loss ) - Satelited into 3k Bounty Hunter and went out of the TOT on a bad beat river card but can,t complain as i got in good
- £4.40
Got a new set up at home with a new desk . I,ve done it so its not facing the TV like my old one. Its cost me in the past
Paul
Satelites -£6.40 ( still in survivor tho )
Micro cash - +£4.48
POINTS 70
having a thead does focus the mind
there were threads last year - September to November - for a monthly profit/loss.
I posted there and managed to have 3 of my best months profit wise.
having to post losses on the thread was not a nice thing to do lol!
since they stopped have done no where near the same volume (although that is partly work related) and not the same motivation.
hope you run good
Perhaps someone can start another thread specifickly for these types of posts as i don,t want to clog up the forum
Day 2 and this could be harder than i thought - Only played the survivor and i could really do with an early night so going to give it a miss tonight
POINTS 90
Sats -£6.40 (Still in survivor )
Micro cash + £4.48
Only played that 1 game tonight, but gonna force myself to have a seesion for an hour at least, so will update before i go to bed
Sats -£6.40 ( still in survior)
Micro cash - +£4.58
EDIT DYM,S (£3 - £5 ) Won 1 Lost 2 - £4.40
Managed to get a cpl of hours in ( mainly at NL4 , everyone seemed to be just playing premium hands , even over 4 tables ) and although slightly down , quite happy with the way i played , bar 1 mistake in a NLO DYM which probably cost me a cash, but getting back into it and at least ive got a new target now - To get out of the red and into the black .
Cheers for the support YG and Idonk and wd for getting through the Survivor Idonk . Noticed you in last place on the bubble but held on nicely
Only played for an hour this morning on the NL4 and the survivor tonight which could have gone better. I,m still averaging just over £20 a day on bingo, but it does take up a bit of time so gonna carry on plodding away and see how it goes
Sats - -£6.40
DYM,s - - £4.40
Micro Cash - + £8.29
My exit hand from Survivor - probably should have shoved instead of the raise but the way he was playing he wudda called anyway
Not played for 7 days so target is looking a bit tough _ really need to get started properly tommorow
Played a cpl of games in the pub tonight and i,ve got my appetetite back
DAY 11 133 pts - ( 867 to go in 11 days )

11pm - midnight.
Didn,t realise I had Tikay reading my thread, pressure is on now

DAY 12 155 pts

Sats - £6.40
DYM,s + 10p
Micro Cash + £10.46
Low stakes cash - £4.30

EDIT : I,ve never really got into HU but after the playing in forum comps i,ve entered i,ve always done well at HU games. This is something i will probably play more of in February and see how i go
HU (£1 - £5 ) + £2.85
It would be great to have you back in that as well.
See Punters corner
Father V
As for my challenge i failed misearbly and am embaressed to say i finished on 228pts. Short by 732
Only played about 6 HU hypers in a quick session the other night losing 4-2 but am back and revitalised for Feb and instead of 1k pts i,m going for 2k pts , which i don,t think ive got before
Just put £50 in to start with - Day 1 to follow - 2k pts target
DAY 3 - Points 41
BR - £64.76
Low stakes cash : +£14.76
EDIT : Just looked at the c4p page from the home page, but can,t see how the points are worked out.
Am i right in thinking you have to be involved in the hand to count toward points ?
Can someone point me in the direction of where its explained as i can,t seem to find it
Cheers

RE- EDIT - Found it - for anyone who is unsure
" A raked hand is defined as any hand in which you are dealt hole cards and a minimum of 1 pence in rake is taken. "
BR - 0 pts 124
After getting up to £78 on the NL10 moved up to NL20 action tablesx 3 tables . 1 hour later - skint .
No more chasing points for me - Will re-load tommorow and start again
Ps - still same number m8
+1 lol - Totally agree. Got wrapped up in chasing points . Won,t be making that mistake again - Should be a good lesson for anyone trying to do the same. It don,t work. Ended up playing with scared money.
Starting again with another £50
I started playing on here last summer. I gave myself the 'recreational' tag because I just enjoyed playing so I played which ever games I wanted without a BR system. A couple of weeks ago I looked back and realised how much id blown. Although it was a decent amount I could justify it because my new Poker hobby over the period has been much cheaper than my previous hobby (boozing). What did get me though was when I looked myself up on Sharkscope.
It basically told me, and anyone else that wanted to look that I really wasnt as good as I thought I was. I decided from there with 98 pence or so in my account that I would set myself a challenge using my own BR system to change Sharkscopes opinion of me.
The system is basically that starting with the minimum stakes and building up I can have no more than 10% of my BR in play at any one time (except the odd treat such as Forum DTD). I dont play much cash so basically its as follows...
Under £20 - £1 DYMs, HU or Freeroll MTTs
Under £30 - £2 DYMs, HU or £2 MTTs
Under £50 - £3 DYMs, HU or £3 MTTs
Under £100 - £5 DYMs, HU or £5 MTTs
...and so on.
Obviously the above amounts are minus the rakes but im sure you get the picture.
I've played the odd games just above my rules but been fortunate and won them. I've more or less stuck to the above though and it roughly a week and a half got my BR from the Quid mark up to just over £50.
I've not really set a target or anything im just hoping to carry on as I am. If I go back under £50 then ill move down a peg again and work back up.
I wasnt going to do a diary although I do enjoy reading others but thought this idea may interest others who are thinking of starting challenges of their own.
I know whaty you mean about boozing. £3.90 for a single short the night . not in a club , in a pub.
Although i haven,t played much online recently i have played afew hours live in local pub, whre they play 2 nights a week and the drinks are cheaper - Only play for a fiver and some pts but its a good laugh. Play 2 games in a night - 3k chips - 10 min blinds - starting at 25/50 .
Came 3rd and joint 1st ( split it ) from 18 players on Wednesday then 3rd and 1st last night with 20 players.
Played on the Action tables for an hour 3 x tabling Nl5 and NL10 and have got to be happy although i,m about even. Got it in good and was unlucky on a cpl of occasions below
It did start with Aces holding up for a £17 pot, but i,ve just been making small deposits . Will update tommorow. Might play some more timed tourneys . Only played a £5 and a £3 but £30 up on them. 1st aim is to get the £50 back i deposited and lost last Saturday night after i got i to 80 and went up to much to NL20 action - Not a good idea and won,t be doing it again in a hurry
How u getting on since you posted Slaver?
1/ I,d just lost a fair pot the hand before and could have looked like i was tilting so thought they would call me down lighter
+ £25.49 = - £24.51 on month
POINTS : 171
and again
Been away for a few days and still finding it hard to get back into it, although watched some of the show tonight and managed my longest session in about 3 months - A whole 2 1/2 hours. It turned out better than expected after some mixed results at low stakes HU and a DYM earlier in the day, but played some NL8 and managed to win a few buy ins
I,ve tried the new timed tournaments and really enjoyed them to, so will set a new pts target for nxt month by which time i hope to be in more of a routine as the last cpl of months i,ve failed miserably in reaching any targets set
MP
you now only get 1 point for every rake hand instead if 2.
u r only better off now if u can get between 1501-1599.
once u get to 2000 u r worse off again....relatively(£24 instead of £30).
2p/4p is included in the happy hours
Didn,t realise the info above although its not something i need to worry about this month. Hopefully it will in March
Didn,t play again tonight, only because I was out playing live in my local. We only play 2 games but it can go on for a few hours.
As for 2p/4p I,ve been moderatly succesful over a long period of time , but think its time to stick with NL8 and NL10.
Just don,t feel I can improve my game at that level. If of course i go on a huge downswing i may go back to it.
Its hard to leave it alone ,especially when you,ve played it for so long and have so many notes on your opponents and feel confident of winning but its time to try and move through the levels, although i won,t be making the same mistake i did a few weeks back and jumping to Nl20 playing 4 tables. I got battered to put it bluntly.
i would definatelly reccomend NL4 for anyone learning to multi-table though
