As those who peruse the Tourney lobby have already seen, "Time Tournaments" debut on Sky Poker this evening.
Tonight is really a soft launch, a live trial, so the schedule, buy-ins, & duration, will almost certainly vary from that tomorrow, & going forward, based upon how tonight goes, & on user-experience & feedback.
The Timed Tourneys are recognizable by the Clock Icon in the Tourney Lobby.
The Timed Tourneys will cease immediately that the scheduled time is up - unless you have already gone busto, of course.
Prize money? You will get the exact monetary value of your chips - your effective chip equity - at the moment the Tourney ceases.
Note that you should keep an eye on the Lobby as the Tournament progresses, as the monetary value of your stack is updated after EVERY HAND, & the Lobby will show this.
The Lobby for the 6.25 Tourney, for example, as of 15 minutes ago, looked like this (only a few names included, for reference)......
In Response to Re: Time4Timed : It was 6.25, Gregg (typo by me, now edited, apologies). The 6.25 one got 194 runners. Posted by Tikay10
I only missed it by about a couple of seconds... see i cant get my timing right, doesn't bode well for the 10pm later which i hae now regged for in adance! :)_
This is what the Lobby looks like as the Tourney progresses. This is the Top Ten ONLY, as of minutes ago, obviously it is dynamic. Just to give an idea of the pay out, this is how the 6:25 finished after half an hour.
No, but I have a small (2x3) Excel spreadsheet open at the same time and it only takes 2 seconds to type my chip count into a cell for it to show the equity.
In Response to Re: Time4Timed : There are other sites? I'm not sure that the "other site" updates the Chip Equity value after every hand, though..... Posted by Tikay10
no, it doesn't indeed, super and genius touch that is

That works, too, but your chip value IS shown, updated after every hand, in real time, in the Lobby under "Blinds & Prize Structure".
This IS NOT a criticism, just an observation. Not sure if these are planned like this, but there is no 'clock' on the last level. Yes, you can time the last 5 mins yourself I know, but the no clock was not known until I played one so just enquiring whether this could be looked at after the trial.
HI Tikay, THese look great! JUst a thought...and don't shoot the messenger! What about a timed "mystery" tourney every so often? e.g. it stops at either 30, 40, 50 or 60 mins?
pad p.s. Hope you enjoyed Ratagan BTW? And saw the sign for GLenelg?

I have no idea if that is do-able, Alan, but the suits will be reviewing this thread in the morning, so we may know more then.
Essentially, the Tourney ceases EXACTLY x minutes (x varies) after it commences, so I would have thought it was adequate, but I'm easily pleased.

Well let's get the "basic" ones established first, Pad, before adding bells & whistles.
I'd, personally, not be in favour, though. There is a particular skillset required in these, & the unknown duration would mitigate against that completely.
Ratagan? Never enjoyed anything so much in my life, Xmas was bliss up there, no internet, 'phone signal, or TV.
I visited Glenelg several times, too, & loved it. I have hundreds of photgraphs of the trip, which I Posted on my Online Diary (elsewhere), but I think most peeps would find them a little boring, otherwise, I'd stick them in a Sky Poker Blog. My holiday photos are not exactly everyone's cup of tea, eh?

Alan,
Re my earlier reply to this, I have had some clarification from upstairs.
Apparently, there are built-in messages sent to ALL Tables to indicate......
10 minutes remaining.
5 minutes remaining.
1 minute remaining.
The actual message sent is.....
"This is a timed tournament which ends in XXX minutes/seconds. The more chips you have when it finishes the bigger your cash prize! View the blinds and prize section of the lobby pop-up to see your current position"
A "countdown clock" on the Tables has been designed, but takes a fair bit of coding to add. Therefore, they'll wait & see if these Timed Tourneys attract reasonable traffic before deciding whether to implement. It IS in the "Road Map", though, & currently scheduled for early summer. (A lot of other new stuff is scheduled between now & then, so it has to "get in the queue"!).
A quick tip for knowing, quickest & easiest, your chip equity (in money) is to go to "Blinds & Prize Structure" in the Tourney Lobby and then SORT BY CHIP STACKS.

Donked out 117th,great fun lots of aggro
Please Note - Timed Tournaments do NOT accrue League Points. This would get a little messy, with so many "in the cash".
Players WILL, however, still earn poker points, based upon buy-in, which count towards C4P.
will try 1 or 2 later
[QUOTE]any bigger ones?? £11 £22??

Not tonight. They may have bigger buy-ins soon, but tonight is just the soft-launch.
